Today we’d like to introduce you to Wrayanne Williams.
Hi Wrayanne, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In 2001, I was a telecom recruiter with a full book of clients—until September 11th changed everything. Overnight, my placements were laid off and my income collapsed. An industry leader I knew (my then‑husband’s boss) suggested I try mortgage lending. I joined his call center of inbound refinance leads, the only female originator in the room—a woman in a man’s world.
I started in October 2001 and by December 2002 I was the top producer. In early 2003, my then‑husband and I launched a net branch with a large retail lender. I hired and coached a team—up to six originators—plus my sister at reception, a processor, and a processing assistant. We grew fast… and then 2007 hit. We pivoted: he moved into title, and I stayed in mortgages, shifting from building a team back to personal production.
For years I served my clients well, but I’ll be honest—I wasn’t playing at my highest level. Life was life: more kids, losing my dad, divorce. I was doing “good,” not “remarkable.”
In 2023, I drew a line. I sought coaching and mentorship from industry greats and moved from retail (after six years producing at Cardinal Financial) into the broker channel to give my clients more choice and sharper pricing. I built a team—an operations manager, an admin, and additional loan originators—and today we’re a women‑led group of three originators proudly known as Dallas Mortgage Girl. We win with creative structuring, proactive communication, and a servant’s heart.
I became a mom at 19, and that forged my grit early. Two decades later, I’ve helped thousands of families (2,500+ and counting) use homeownership to build wealth. My purpose now is bigger than closing loans: I coach agents, educate buyers, and champion financial stability as a path to freedom. We’re not here to be average; we’re here to set a new standard—authentic, compassionate, and relentlessly growth‑minded.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth? Not even close—but I’ve learned that smooth roads rarely lead to interesting destinations.
Early on, I was the only woman in a sea of male originators, hustling refinance deals in a loud call center where you either closed loans or packed up your desk. I thrived, but I had to work twice as hard to be taken seriously. When we launched our own branch, I was managing a team, coaching originators, raising babies, and trying to hold everything together with duct tape and a day planner.
Then came 2007. The crash was brutal. Overnight, deals dried up, confidence tanked, and many of my peers left the industry entirely. I stayed—because this wasn’t just a job for me, it was a calling. I downshifted from team building to personal production and did what I had to do to survive—sometimes just one loan at a time.
Over the next decade, life didn’t slow down. I juggled motherhood, loss, divorce, and grief, all while holding onto my business. I never completely lost momentum, but I did coast. I was doing “enough”—but I wasn’t building something I was truly proud of. That realization hit hard.
In 2023, I decided to stop settling. I left the comfort of retail lending to step into the broker world—more freedom, more options for my clients, but a lot more complexity behind the scenes. I hired a team, rebranded as Dallas Mortgage Girl, and invested in coaching. And let me tell you—building something sustainable while unlearning old habits is no joke.
The road hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been worth it. Every struggle sharpened my skills, deepened my empathy, and reinforced my belief that resilience isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a muscle you build one challenge at a time.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Dallas Mortgage Girl (powered by Aspire Mortgage Advisors)?
I’m the founder of Dallas Mortgage Girl, a boutique, women-led mortgage team serving buyers across Texas and Oklahoma. We help everyday families—and high-end clients—finance their next chapter with clarity, confidence, and strategy.
Whether it’s a first home, a move-up, or a million-dollar dream property, our team delivers deep expertise, creative structuring, and a white-glove level of service that’s rare in this industry. But here’s the kicker: we don’t just deliver premium service—we deliver premium value.
Because we operate in the broker channel, we’re not tied to one lender or product. That means we can shop multiple options to find the most competitive rates and pricing available—often beating what the big banks or retail lenders offer. We care deeply about the client experience and the long-term financial strategy—which means we also care about saving our clients money.
We’re known for:
Proactive, transparent communication (we update clients before they ask)
Outside-the-box loan solutions for self-employed, VA, and nontraditional buyers
Jumbo and high-net-worth lending done with speed, discretion, and finesse
A coaching mindset that empowers agents and educates clients
And honestly? We just care more. Our business is built on trust, not transactions. Every client matters. Every deal matters. We don’t chase volume—we pursue excellence.
Dallas Mortgage Girl is bold, approachable, and built to serve. Yes, you’ll find hot pink branding and handwritten thank-you notes—but you’ll also find sharp financial strategy, aggressive pricing, and a team who shows up 100% for their clients, every time.
What makes us different? We make the mortgage process make sense. We advocate fiercely. We save people time, stress, and money. And we never forget that behind every loan is a family, a future, and a dream worth fighting for.
What’s next?
Oh, I’ve got big plans—because getting by isn’t good enough anymore. I’ve spent the last few years rebuilding this business with real intention, and now I’m focused on scaling it into something sustainable, impactful, and legacy-driven.
First, I’m continuing to grow my team of powerhouse women in lending. I’m building a business model that allows originators to thrive in their zone of genius—with strong systems, coaching, and operational support behind them. The goal? To help more clients without burning out—and to create real career paths for other women in this industry.
I’m also planning to expand our influence in the luxury market by partnering with high-end agents and serving clients who need both elevated service and financial strategy. But we’re not abandoning our roots—I still love helping first-time buyers win in competitive markets and educating families on how to build generational wealth through homeownership.
On the personal side, my husband and I are about to be empty nesters—and we’re planning for what I call our “working retirement.” That means spending more time with each other, practicing our individual evolution, and enjoying life’s small miracles, while continuing to lead and mentor my team from anywhere. Freedom and flexibility are just as important to me as growth.
I also plan to do more speaking, coaching, and mentoring—especially for women in mortgage and real estate. I want to be a voice in this industry that challenges the status quo and shows that you can be both heart-led and high-producing.
Bottom line? I’m building a business that doesn’t just succeed—it multiplies, empowers, and lives on beyond me.
