Rising Stars: Meet James Taylor of Galveston

Today we’d like to introduce you to James Taylor.

Hi James , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It’s a funny story on how I got started on being a content creator, about two years ago, I had food poisoning and I was at home sick and all I could do was just watch YouTube and I came across a channel that was doing gaming and I was thinking about actually starting a YouTube channel for streaming games and when I saw that channel I was inspired because I have everything here to start so that’s when I started doing my research on how to stream my games and record my games and I did that for about a few months and my best friend told me to get out of my comfort zone and start going to convictions and I was a little nervous at first, but I ended up going to my first conviction, which was called retropalooza a convention about video games and after that I ended up going to kamahacon in Dallas that’s where I got my big start into going to conventions and vlogging A few months later I started working with a company called mangamania as a vendor can I travel all over the place with them to a different Anime networking building my brand along with their brand and at the same time I started hosting panels at different Anime conventions and of course you have to start off small so I was at every small Anime convention hosting panels getting out there meeting new people making great friends and I got my big break when I was accepted to be a panelist at dreamcon with over 200 people in the panel room and ever since then things just been going up for me o did interviews with uncle ruckus voice actor, Gary Anthony to hitting my very first viral video on TikTok and now having a viral video on Instagram and the journey is just now starting I have so many things planned a podcast called Hot Take No Jutsu let’s just say with this podcast it’s gonna be a lot of heated Anime debates lol but yeah, that is my journey as of so far

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s never a smooth road when you’re achieving your goals and following your dreams, but you just have to take it one day at a time many of the challenges for me was starting off. I feel like I was going nowhere. It will be times where I’m like why I’m doing this. Nobody is watching my channel and just comparing myself to other Youtubers and that’s the biggest mistake for anybody starting off once I got over there hurdle the next challenge was trying to make it to every convention that I got accepted to have to pay for hotel rooms making sure I had enough gas to get there and back home. Wear a tear on your car I mean, I can go on and on lol but the biggest challenge for me was when they would put my panel on Friday it’s still working that was a huge conflict having to take off multiple Fridays and using a lot of my PTO but in the long run, everything was worth it and I feel like my struggles or challenges wasn’t extreme because I always made sure I plan ahead and plan for the unexpected and just taking things one day at a time that’s all that we can do

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
so I actually work in the school district. My first few years I was working in the behavior program boy let me tell you that was fun and hectic at the same time but now I’m the ISS teacher so it’s not as good as it used to be honestly, the thing that I’ve known for around the school district is being well respected among my peers And the students and the thing that I’m most proud about is seeing all of my behavior students in the program succeed and leaving the behavior program. It’s always a good feeling when I see one of my old students in there like I appreciate everything you did for me or hearing from their parents and hearing from other schools that they are doing so much better in their behavior That itself will always be the biggest reward to me.. honestly what I feel like sitting apart from everybody else is that I have and everybody says that how do you do this? How do you come to work every day knowing you what kind of job you have to do and I tell them I just do it. I enjoy what I do. I love what I do and it’s just all about having patience.

Any big plans?
my future plans, huh? Well when’s the biggest thing I have set in stone for me in the future is starting this podcast called
Hot Take No Jutsu I really feel like this podcast is going to takeoff because this going to give people a platform to debate their favorite anime hot takes I also plan on doing a lot more streaming and a lot more interviews with voice actors and celebrities just stay tune things are starting to heat up.
