Today we’d like to introduce you to Sage Gardner
Hi Sage, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had a very creative eye but never knew what I wanted to do with it. When I was 20 years old I left my home town of Chicago and I joined the US Navy. After completing 5 years, I decided to go to barber school. After obtaining my barber license I moved to beautiful Hollywood to attend Los Angeles Film School because in barber school I discovered my passion for videography. While in film school I tried out acting and became a Sag-Aftra Actress. My passion for exploration and appreciation of the world’s beauty converge seamlessly with my commitment to preserving cherished memories through the art of photography. So the summer of 2022 , I added photography to my services and the rest was history. Here I am today , a traveling photographer and filmmaker. My specialties are events and BTS as well as branding shoots for businesses. You will never catch me without a camera in my hand,
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Very bumpy road. I spent most of my 20’s trying to figure out life and what excites me. Growing up I had the dream of going to the WNBA but once that dream was crushed I was lost and confused which prompted me to go to the military to give me time to figure it out. The pandemic slowed me down a lot because videography is very hands on but I had to learn everything via zoom which was challenging. When I first started my photography business, it was hard getting my name out there, but I had a dream and I stuck with it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a photographer and videographer. I specialize in events and Behind the Scenes (BTS). I am know for my candid shots at events, capturing people emotions verse posed shots. I am most proud of being a go getting, sliding into DM’s to get opportunities and exceeding expectations. What sets me apart from others is I do both, most people do just phots or just videos but I offer both. I am a one woman army and get it done. I also travel, one can hire me to travel anywhere to shoot.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Youtube and tik tok. I learn so much from these sites. I never stop learning. I spend most my nights learning new editing tips and tricks or about the latest camera. I also listening to motivational podcast when I think life is getting hard or I have a creative block.
