Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarena Michaels.
Hi Sarena, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My background is in the corporate sector; I have always been geared towards service in the administrative industry. It wasn’t until 2015, when my spouse and I decided to venture into our own graphics business, that I switched my focus. I have always been creative, but more in an abstract, non-conformist way. Once introduced to the electronic aspect of creativeness, it was like a whole new world opened up. Learning Illustrator and Adobe products has expanded my understanding of how branding really works.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Mostly since 2015, business has been easily calculated. It wasn’t until 2023 that things got really bumpy. We have a lot of repeat customers and referrals, but seemingly overnight business plummeted. These struggles, I realize, are just tests. They are there to increase our faith and if you stay the course and don’t give up, I guarantee those struggles will become a distant memory. This business could never survive without giving all of our glory to God. We thank Him daily for what we have accomplished and continue to be blessed with.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
The Graphics Group specializes in business branding. We strive to create something for our clients to be proud of and for there to be consistency in. We get a lot of customers who want to create one thing and then switch to something else to brand their business, but we always remind them of Nike. It’s just one swoosh, and everyone remembers it; they never change it, and it’s always consistent. Keep it simple and your clients will remember it.
We are most proud of anything we do that clients repost, review, and remember. When a customer contacts us after their graphics have been installed for a bit to let us know how much they still love them or appreciate the attention to detail, that’s our shining moment. Our installation team is over the top meticulous about the installation – even white-gloving it if necessary!
What makes you happy?
Honestly, when our installation team is happy, I’m happy. Period. Their happiness fuels me for the next job.
