Today we’d like to introduce you to Gregory Wells.
Gregory, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I’ve played music my whole life. I started off performing in a hard rock band writing song…I played electric guitar and sang. We did that for a few years in San Diego and broke up. I wanted to keep performing, but without a band I was limited. So, I developed a new sound, I call it “Love in The New Age”, that focuses primarily on the story telling and vocals, and that I like to approach from a traditional country blues perspective.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I write country blues love songs. There about man and woman, but through the characters you can relate, and I use the language of love since love has no logic. I want my listeners to feel connected with the words, feeling the pain and struggle, overcoming that or making it through. This is how songs really carry meaning and also have a message, otherwise the song holds no weight.
In your view, what is the biggest issue artists have to deal with?
Today and always is the eternal challenge of saying, playing, or writing anything substantial…something worth listening to. I feel it’s rare when someone makes music for the right reasons and gets a chance to be heard.
