Meet C.R.U.S.H. YourPoet

Today we’d like to introduce you to C.R.U.S.H. YourPoet.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My poetry journey started out of trying to find an outlet in order to bring myself out of a dark mental state. I began going to Dallas Poetry Slam every Friday and the connection and energy I felt fueled me. I never saw myself as a poet, but eventually, I got the courage to share my work. I then began going to poetry workshops and within six months, I made the Dallas Poetry Slam team. I began to travel and compete nationally.

By the time I hit two years in my poetry journey, I had ranked 15th woman poet in the Nation at the Women of the World Poetry Slam 2020. Accolades I reached before that was 30th ranked performance poet in the World at the Individual World Poetry Slam, as well as my team ranking first place in the Southwest region and 2nd place at Nationals. Once I discovered I could reach and relate to people with poetry, I began to build a brand based on merging art, poetry, and positive energy to help people heal the way it helped heal me. My name C.R.U.S.H. is an acronym for Creating Realities Using Spiritual Hands. This is also a large part of my brand – embracing your personal power to manifest your desired reality. My motto is Do Everything With Love.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I can’t say the road was smooth, but I am extremely grateful for each unexpected bump and turn along the way. It is all a learning process, and if it would have been a smooth road, I don’t think I would have grown the way I did. There were times where I thought I was losing myself, or my doubts were taking over. However, the passion behind what I was doing and the number of people reaching out to let me know how I was helping them continuously overpowered my low points.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a nationally ranked poet, visual artist, and creator. I am known for passionate poems that make you think, as well as being a light – positive and calming energy. I am extremely proud of my rapid growth and the way I have been able to build my brand and skillset in such a short time frame. I am really excited about what is to come because I am just getting started. I think what sets me apart from others is my balance. I am creative with a wild and spontaneous thought process, who is also very structured when it comes to business. I am also great at making people feel comfortable and willing to listen and grow. My main purpose is to help and heal, and I am aware of how to use my tools to accomplish this.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My advice for finding a mentor is engaging on social media or at networking events with people who are successful in your arena. Someone who does something very similar to what you offer, and picking their brain on what works. Also, being open to getting uncomfortable and doing things you never thought you would do.
