Check out Luis and Michelle Lockhart’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luis Lockhart and Michelle Lockhart.

Luis, Michelle, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
The connection between fine arts and our lives started way before we could even imagine that it would be part of our professional careers. Luis remembers his childhood and how he used to play around with his mother’s Kodak Ektra 250 Film Camera and how amazed he was at how such a small device with just 110 film could capture precious moments. On the other hand, Michelle was always attracted to design. Throughout her childhood she used to spend countless hours painting and designing. It was not until college that we both started taking a deeper interest in photography. We both took a plethora of courses in film photography and spent hundreds of ours in the darkroom developing film and creating fun and creatives photos of The Big Apple “New York City”. When we married, we developed a stronger connection for capturing love. Since then we have been in love with weddings and in love with our couples because we truly feel that documenting weddings is the most amazing, thrilling and exciting event one can ever encounter. It is the beginning of everything. A new family, new connections, new perspective.

We have been in the Dallas-Fort Worth for three years and we have been blessed with new people, new experiences and new opportunities. We currently travel all over the world capturing love but our major focus has been Texas and the East Coast.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
We are a husband and wife wedding photography and cinema team, based in NYC and Dallas, Texas. We love creating stories with our camera through both photographs and film, and love the emotion our final products evoke. In addition, we are travelers, followers of Christ, and admirers of anything pretty! We hope that people can see that being a wedding story teller is more than just having a camera. It is about creating long lasting relationships and capturing the real essence of love that comes with those relationships.

Have things improved for artists? What should cities do to empower artists?
Given everything that is going on in the world today we do believe the role of artists have changed. An artist now a days has to be more engaged than before and has to wear many hats specially when owning their business. Just as time passes, artists need to learn how to adapt in these new ecosystems and learn how to be successful.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
Our work has been published in many outlets such as The Knot, Ruffled, Joywed, Brides of North Texas and many others. They can also see all our work by accessing our blog at www.thelockharts.co.
