Check Out Andrea Hernandez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Hernandez.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I began in the beauty industry 12 years ago. I assisted at a salon in the Bishop Arts District and eventually earned my spot as a stylist there. After about 10 years into my career, I finally decided to open up my own business that is Dallas Hairstheitics. I have worked with some of the best hairstylists in Dallas, and I apply everything that I have learned from them into my craft. My vision for my business is still growing. I hope to grow into a place where I can showcase the work of all types of stylists. I want to create a space that can reflect the diversity and style of the people from the DFW area.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One thing they don’t tell you in cosmetology school is that when you get into the beauty industry, you pretty much jump into being an entrepreneur. Being an entrepreneur is not easy I’ve often had to work an extra job, sacrifice time away from my children and husband, and learn from my losses.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in cut and color. Most of my clientele come to see me for a cut or a balayage. I really take the time to get to know my clients and build a relationship with them. This not only helps with making them feel comfortable with me it also helps me to understand what their style is. I won’t do anything to anyone’s hair that I don’t think they would be happy with later. Thankfully my clients trust my judgment, and I’m very thankful for their confidence in me.

What do you think about luck?
I don’t believe in luck. I believe that our outcomes are attributed from the decisions and actions we take. I also believe that God should be in the center of our decisions, most importantly our financial and business decisions. I’ve made business decisions without seeking God’s direction, and things don’t go the way I hoped. My favorite scripture is Matthew 6:33 ” But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you.”
