Check Out Cameron Williams’ Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cameron Williams.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey in entertainment started early. I grew up in Denver and was involved with the arts in some form or fashion as far back as I am toddler. I remember having a little keyboard with a small scratch pad as kid and always loving music. I became a member of the International Thespian Society in high school, was involved with youth programs sponsored by PBS12 and the Urban Spectrum newspaper, and was involved in numerous high school rap battles.

I moved to the DFW area after I graduated and started to make music, but not in a serious manner. I moved to Las Vegas after a few years with my cousin who is an independent artist, and that’s when I really began to take the music more serious and gained more knowledge on the music business. I help form the group (Lost Elements Official) and began performing on a regular basis. We released an album and opened up for artist such as Termanology, Rakim, Blu & Exile, and other established indie artists. I moved back to Texas in 2019 for family reasons, but I am still a member of Lost Elements, and we just released a new single March 3rd.

After moving back, my mom’s business (Pure Comfort Spa Clinique) began to take off and so I started helping her build her social media presence. I also formed my own publishing company and began thinking about other possibilities within the music industry other than being an artist. That’s is what inspired me to create an avenue to help Artists develop their craft (live performances) and expand their network. Me and my friends Cesar and DJ Dvnci started Texas Vibes Party to do that, and is an endeavor that is still ongoing.

Although I’m a member of a group I’m still a solo artist as well and have been building my catalog up under a new name (Don Jon de Bastard), over the past 2 years. I released 1 album, a mixtape, and several singles within that time and have a new album I am releasing in April (4/20/23) called “S.O.B {Son Of a Bastard}. Outside of music, I am the PA for TCU Beach Volleyball and am available for hire to host events or parties.

I also am a brand ambassador for my cousin’s clothing line, “Authentic Aint Easy.” His brand sponsors Lost Elements as well as the Texas Vibes Party movement. He and his brand has been a big help to my success as well. It’s a brand I truly believe in and try to embody, and that belief is reciprocated, which makes the partnership so great.

I love art of all kind and I love music. Ultimately entertaining people and myself is what I love to do, and I plan to do this until the lord closes my eyes.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it’s been very bumpy. I lost my grandpa in 2015 & grandma in 2019; they were my best friends and biggest supporters. I’ve also dealt with many financial challenges (especially during the pandemic), failed business partnerships, a miscarriage, and other family problems that became distracting from my craft in some cases.

Ultimately my band mates and my other close circle of friends helped to keep me motivated and inspired, as well as my own belief that this is what I am supposed to be doing with my life. My purpose with music is to inspire, entertain, or enlighten, and that is what drives me to continue even when times get tough or rough.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an independent recording artist/songwriter, an independent music publisher, marketing, Director/ influencer, & a brand ambassador.

My specialty is making music & songwriting. I write all my own lyrics and hooks as well as design most of my own cover art. Making music is probably what I am most well-known for, but I’m proud of everything I do ultimately.

What sets me apart from others is the fact that I’m driven by the passion of the music and not necessarily the money or the fame. Don’t get me wrong. I want to be paid or compensated for my work, especially because I put my heart and soul into it, but I am not a fame seeker, and I try to keep my ego out of all of my business affairs. I am a believer that everyone can shine at the same time, and there’s enough room for everyone to win. I’m always willing to share the knowledge that I’ve gained over the years and encourage others that are in my field, even if they are considered “competition“. I believe if you do something well enough, you will gain notoriety by default but I’m not one that will relish is in the spotlight. I just want to give the best product and do the best job possible.

Also, anytime I commit to any kind of project or endeavor, I put 100% into it even if it means putting my own personal things on hold (if feasible of course).

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I’ve definitely had a village of people to help get me to this point. My mom is the first entrepreneur I’ve ever met or known, so she’s a constant inspiration and someone I look to help guide me as a businessman. My father is an older version of myself, so his guidance in how to handle myself in certain situations is invaluable.

My grandparents were very instrumental in shaping who I am as well. But currently, my bandmates (DatzDiggy & Big Skoon), my cousins Deaunta & Kevin, my older brother Jordan, my friends Cesar, Justin, Nate, Daniel, Chap, & Austin, and my little cousins all help to keep me motivated grounded and inspired to push win sometimes I don’t have the strength.

I’ve had many mentors over the years, including former teachers, managers at work, teammates, and colleagues. All of them have given me words of wisdom or encouragement in my journey and endeavors.
