Check Out Christopher Gonzalez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Gonzalez.

Hi Christopher, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Christopher Gonzalez, but I go by CJoseph Art. I have always loved both art and music, so early on in my art career, I infused the two together to create canvas paintings full of bright colors. I started murals in the early 2000’s as a free-lance artist which helped open doors for a career as a production manager for a large corporate company. I continued to paint on my own over the years and grew my own brand which allowed me to recently leave that career after 16 years to continue my art business. I now paint murals full-time and produce fine art that has shipped as far as Paris, France.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, it’s always been a grind, but in a good way. I’m the kind of person who believes talent isn’t enough and hard work trumps talent when talent doesn’t work hard. I embrace the challenges and look at them as learning moments. Some of the challenges I have had to face are late nights in the studio, sacrificing time away from family, and learning how to get my name and brand known. There is NO smooth road to success and I have much still to do and achieve.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a full-time artist who specializes in murals and fine art for major business, brands, and private commissions. My canvas paintings are known for vibrant colors and portraits of musicians. My murals have a wide range of styles stretching from landscapes to modern graffiti style art. At the moment, I’m most proud of the current mural I’m painting for the Arlington Commons; a 12,000 squarefoot mural! It’s the biggest mural done by a single person on the DFW area. I always enjoy each mural I have the privelage to create, but my favorite so far has been the “Hope” mural for Dallas Methodist Medical Center I did this year. This was a special mural for my family and has allowed me to spread the message of “Hope” to people who are hurting.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The shift for murals and incorporating art into brands has been growing rapidly over the past few years, and I believe this trend will continue to expand for years to come. The “selfie” movement and social media aspect has catapulted a lot of artists and changed the way people view art and murals in general. Interactive spaces are being created with art to allow more people accessibility to art everyday.
