Check Out Jori Bowman’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jori Bowman. 

Hi Jori, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I’m a cosmetologist who started taking cosmetology courses at Duncanville High School. I didn’t get to complete all my hours so I couldn’t take my test my senior year in 2008. At the time that was fine being me. I had intentions on being a elementary teacher. Fast forward to 2012 I enrolled in Ogle hair school. My dad encouraged me to go back and finish what I started. To think of it I hadn’t give up one hair completely after high school. I was still dabbling in hair by providing custom color for bundles and looking into being a hair distributor . Flash back, one day during a father daughter talk my father said something that stuck out to me “ You might as well be a triple threat”. From there on out I was focused and driven to earn my license. Also I was a single mom at the time to a beautiful mini-me so there were no games to be played. She was watching and was so proud when I graduated. After graduating I went from dabbling in all hair format to loving locs/dreads. I’m now a loctician who focuses on healthy natural hair growth. Im happy to announce I’ve made a product to help hydrate along with detangle hair. My goal is to keep growing in my learnings of locs and make a change the natural hair industry.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was/ has mostly been smooth. Most issue aroused with personalities. I believe having the right clientele in mind eliminates a lot of unwanted run-ins, arguments, and energy. I had some shop owners who were not professional in there upkeep, that the only time I had an issue.

Client wise I always keep the mentality “there’s someone else that’ll do their hair. Along with someone who wants you to do theirs.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a beautician who focuses on dreadlocks. I specialize in locs and color. I’m known for those two very things. I also love informing my clients about their hair. I believe the more knowledge you have the healthier the hair growth.

What sets me apart from everyone else is Me, I’m not like anyone else. I love understanding others and bringing to life someone inner vision. Not only that but the bonds that are made at these appointment are unbreakable. I believe when you care, care comes back to you. I pride myself on love, thus I love what I do. It loves me back and this interview is proof. I’m also a go getter who persevere through challenges .
