Check Out Nicole and Christina Butler’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole and Christina Butler.

Hi Nicole and  Christina, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Center To Rise Wellness Spa Studio was created from the office of my home. During the pandemic, we seen firsthand how mental wellness was challenged as the country lost jobs, families lost loved ones, students were unable to participate in traditional proms. Basically, life went virtual and or still unless you were essential. We had lots of people requesting therapy services, spiritual cleanings, meditation, and yoga. So we donated our services heavily in the month of June. Center To Rise Wellness Spa studio is an entire vibe. We wanted to create a space that didn’t look like a mental health clinic; we wanted to welcome all walks of life into a space that felt safe, felt like home, felt like creativity. Center To Rise Wellness Spa Studio is a one-stop shop for therapeutic services. We offer several services such as individual, group and family therapy. Support groups, meditation, yoga, sound baths, spiritual cleansings, massages, virtual reality, music therapy and more. My name is Nicole Butler and my sister is Christina Butler. Two black girls with dreams of destigmatizing mental health in the black and brown community. We have two division Texas and Tennessee. Arlington Texas, is our brick-and-mortar location. Honestly, pictures won’t do it any justice of how dope the inside looks. We just wanted to create something unique, non-judgemental and we did.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Struggles are funding. You know, we are in the middle of a pandemic trying to help people. Not a lot of money but just ambition. We are always looking for support, especially that we have overhead. We are looking for donations of computing systems so we can stay HIPPA compliant. Donations to assist with those who are private pay clients without insurance and those who are with insurance and who have not met their deductible seeking services as they may have to pay 100 percent out of pocket until the deductible has been met. We accept insurance at this time and are pending several other insurance boards. Some of the struggles the long nights, being overwhelmed but unable to pay someone to help so you got to suck it up and do it. You got to do all the research, marketing, strategies. I wouldn’t necessarily say that part is a struggle it’s mostly part of the process.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I, Nicole Butler, am a Licensed Master Social Worker and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern. Also hold my Associate Sex Offender Treatment Provider license. Christina Butler is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and Tennessee. Christina also has a 2nd master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis.

Can you talk about how you think about risk?
OPENING A BUILDING DURING THE PANDEMIC IS RISK TAKING!! We didn’t know what to expect. We knew we weren’t going to open our doors until March, So we kicked off the last weekend of Feb to have our grand opening. Which was February 27th, 2021. Opening a business during the pandemic is the riskiest thing we could have done ever in life.
