Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikia Simmons.
Nikia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I launched the brand UNAPOLOGETCIALLYFIT in 2017. I never had intentions of becoming a personal trainer; it wasn’t until I landed my job at ILovekickboxing that my passion for helping people build confidence within themselves started to bring joy to my heart. I graduated with a bachelor’s in Kinesiology with a concentration in human and fitness performance. A little while after that I received my certification in personal training and also started courses for health coaching.
I had no idea where this band would take me but I know I wanted to start helping women build confidence in the world of fitness. Fitness has always been part of my life. I struggled with weight most of my life and after trying all the weight loss pills, excessive diets, and spending hours in the gym at a time I decided to take it more seriously and do everything the natural way.
After seeing results in my many ways of training and eating habits I made online workout programs to help those in need and with that I helped hundreds of people with my skills alone. During the pandemic, I went full force into my training business and created meaningful relationships with my clients and not only helped them with lifestyle changes but behavior changes within themselves.
Now since I am new to Dallas it is time to build my community and brand. My goal is to have a safe and welcoming atmosphere for women of all ages to come together and implement meaningful habits in their journey of health and wellness. I believe everyone needs a support group and a Strong LEADER to help navigate them to create, implement, and sustain healthy lifestyle changes. Together we will Flourish, Inspire, and Thrive.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not always been a smooth road. At the beginning of me bringing my vision of the brand to life, it was so new and exciting that it was easy to give it my all. However, when life gets in the way and plans start to change you have to find that motivation to continue to work on your dream. That is what I realize the most now.
Being that I am from New Orleans and I’ve taken my brand to a new city (Dallas) it has been the most challenging. It took me a year of being out here to really sit and come back to my senses on building my brand again. I do not plan on giving up. I believe that I will impact way more women than I can imagine. Unapologeticallyfit will be the community that every woman needs and wants to be part of.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Behavioral therapist for kids with autism, a personal trainer, and a health coach. In my journey of helping others, I decided to tap into life coaching along the way. I am known for being that person that everyone goes to for guidance in any area that relates to health, wellness, and lifestyle. I am most proud of my discipline and dedication.
The thing that set me apart from others is the fact that I am a living testimony of everything I speak of and coach people on. I will let you know the good, bad and ugly. I have always been honest with my clients about anything they asked and I’m very open with them. Building trust and long-lasting relationships with those you are helping is a must. I want my clients to know that they not only have someone to push them out of their comfort zone but at the end of the day they can have a friend they can trust.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
First I want to say Thank You to all those individuals that took the time to read my story. I want every reader to know that if you are looking to start your own business, community, platform, etc you CAN DO IT. The level that you want to reach may seem unreachable at first but you have to take every step of your experience and learn from it
Each step gets you closer and closer to your new level. You will always keep growing even when you reach your goals. Also, do not let life stop you from chasing your dreams; Life will be hard regardless, so just take the chance and bet on yourself.
