Today we’d like to introduce you to Raeesa Jadael.
Raeesa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
There is nothing more harrowing than feeling unsafe in your own home. The saying “everything happens for a reason” truly fits our journey into the Cane Corso breed & the creation of High Society Cane Corso. We are a Cane Corso breeding program located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
After turning down a service with a HVAC company the technician began to stalk and harass us. He called over 250 times, threatened to come to our house, threatened to cause harm to our family, and even looked up family members to do the same to them. My husband was working long hours away from home, leaving myself and newborn son at home. I truly felt defenseless and scared. While we had previously researched getting a guardian breed dog this was the final push into us acquiring this powerful and majestic breed.
The Cane Corso also known as the Italian Mastiff originated in Italy. They are considered a giant breed of the working class and are of the mastiff family. They are known to be very athletic, eager to please, highly intelligent, loyal, vigilant & fearless. They are also known to be dominant and headstrong, needing an experienced owner who is confident and able to set strong and clear boundaries. While they are not known to be aggressive, they are a guardian breed and are weary of strangers.
The dogs not only provided us with a sense of security but opened up a whole world of love, joy, learning, passion & bonding for our family. We started our High Society Cane Corso breeding program and YouTube channel in order to provide knowledge & the same joyous experience to other families.
Which brings us to where we are today. Every breeding we do is done with intent and has a specific goal. We have spent countless hours diving deep into different Cane Corso bloodlines in order to narrow down the select lines we use here in our program. The focus of our breeding program is to produce dogs that will make a great addition to your family, be able to provide security, have a balanced temperament, be structurally sound & healthy.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
At the end of the day, this business involves dealing with live animals who require a lot of attention & an experienced owner. I wouldn’t say it has been a difficult road but we are dedicated to raising our dogs to be the best they can be. This takes consistency, time, training (both for the dogs and us), taking our dogs out to socialize them (introducing them to new & different types of environments, sights, sounds, etc.), exercising not only their bodies but also their minds & creating a structured environment for them. Some days the juggle between being a mother, managing two businesses (we also own a mobile auto detailing company called The Butler Detailing), running a household & raising well-rounded puppies can be quite hectic but it is all worth it.
Getting into the breeding business also requires a plethora of knowledge. To name a few: genetics, reading and understanding pedigrees, understanding dog behaviors/temperaments, history of the breed you are in, business acumen, marketing skills, canine reproductive study, whelping (how to birth puppies), and much more. It is not simply just allowing two dogs to mate. At the beginning, the learning curve seemed like a mountain to climb. However, in being dedicated to always wanting to be the “student” I continue to search for knowledge in order to always improve from the point I am at.
As with any business, there are ups and downs. Breeding is no different. Sometimes a breeding doesn’t take, a dog gets ill or a dog or puppy passes. In the breeding industry, they have a saying “you can’t be an emotional person and breed”. I disagree with this statement without emotion there is no love. I don’t believe one can truly experience true joy without having experienced some sadness. The struggles through the journey of building something make the successes at the end mean so much more.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
High Society Cane Corso is a family-owned Cane Corso breeding program located in the DFW area. We focus on raising well-rounded dogs as well as breeding puppies with a focus on health, temperament & structure.
We are most proud of how much progress our dogs have made from the time they were puppies to now. We love watching them grow and get better each day. There is nothing like the bond you build with these animals and being able to celebrate their “wins” with them. They continue to amaze us in what they are capable of.
What separates us from others would be our passion & transparency in our program. Through our YouTube channel, we share our experiences this allows for the spread of knowledge and an insight to what goes on within our program. We spare no expense both in time and financially when it comes to making sure our dogs receive the best care & training.
A lot of breeders tend to get bad reputations due to many who simply breed for money instead of caring about the well-being of the dogs. At High Society Cane Corso, we not only strive to make sure our dogs are getting everything they need but also strive to create a great client relationships with those whom purchase puppies from us. We offer lifetime breeder support and even if you do not get a dog from us are always happy to answer any questions anyone has.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
My definition of success would be doing something with your life that you wake up excited to do. Success is following your passions, chasing your dreams, and achieving happiness through creating the best version of your life and yourself.
