Check Out Sara Daigle’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Daigle.

Hi Sara, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved playing dress-up and taking photos…the older I got, the more my passion for these things grew. I created my Instagram back in high school so I could share my life, style & photos with my friends and family. Once I figured out how to create quality content, I wanted to share it with a larger audience so I decided to begin growing my account following, thus beginning my influencing journey. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to be an ambassador for some of my favorite brands, started my own fashion & lifestyle blog (Modern Muse), and even modeled in some campaigns for iconic Dallas brands, like Lala Land Kind Café.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, definitely not. I’ve been hacked, spammed by bots, and even had my content copied and plagiarized. Social media is a weird thing because it is so accessible by everyone all of the time. As a creator, I’ve had people rip off my content and copycat everything down to my bio and the emojis used–and there have even been people who’ve stolen my photos to create catfish accounts. These are all problems most creators have to deal with, unfortunately. Lucky for me, I’m involved in a few creator communities that have really helped and supported me through these types of issues. There are a lot of resources out there to help creators mitigate these things, but in truth, it’s all part of the process in my opinion. Finding the strategy that works best for me was also pretty tough. There are so many people out there telling you that you “have to post at noon every day” and “you won’t be successful unless you post 5 times per day”, etc. but what I’ve found is that these strategies don’t always work and they definitely don’t guarantee results. You have to be your authentic self, really put yourself out there in your content, and do what works for you.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My content is very much centered around me just living life. The majority of content across all of my socials is focused on fashion & style, my day-to-day life, and sharing my mental health journey. I’m a content creator part-time…instagramming & creating for my other social media is more of a hobby than a full time job. Outside of the digital world, I work for one of the largest jewelers in the world and I love it! I’m an assistant buyer for [redacted] and I buy color gemstone & pearl jewelry. Basically, I work with vendors to pick and choose what gets put into our stores all across the globe. I know right, every girl’s dream is to get paid for shopping and I get to do it for a living.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
There are so many creator communities on Instagram and Facebook, I recommend starting there! To be really successful at networking, I find that you have got to just put yourself out there and talk (or message) everyone. Engagement on social media is also a must if you want to get your name and account out there. A great resource for business mentors is SCORE. SCORE is completely free and you get matched up with a mentor based on a survey you fill out. I’ve used the platform a few times and love it.
