Today we’d like to introduce you to Ulrik Christian Ahlefeldt-Laurvig.
Hi Ulrik, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
For almost 20 years, I have navigated in a creative world of advertising, design, film, and content creation – known for my humor, twisted, colorful mindset. Some think I’m too much, others looove it, and well – I guess I never really aim to reach the ground floor again…
At the beginning of 2018, I started painting – first very experimental, trying out different shapes, materials, colors, and light. Now I’ve found a more robust and intense creative process, better than anything I have tried before. I hope people see this in my work, knowing I might shift tempo again someday 🙂
Three fast ones:
1) What do you want with your art?
I aim for a life of colors and light. Weird angles, passion, energy, humor and love – lots of luv! That I try to bring into my art. I wish people wake up and fall in love repeatedly in the art piece they may have bought. And that exact feeling spreads to the rest of their life, surroundings etc…
2) What is the greatest thing in your process of creating?
When I experiment and suddenly see the colors and shapes fit together. And I know what the final result should be.
3) What is the biggest achievement so far in your life?
When I melted my future wife’s heart – with my red pants and colorful soul. She’s very business-like, but I activated the creativity and kids-spirit in her. That’s what I love to do!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes, I’m working in my studio every day from 10:00 – 17:00, and make the ideas in the evening – it’s a full-time job to be an artist at my level, and I enjoy it 😀

I’m a full-time artist with a 20 years background as an art director in the advertising industry; I have worked for: Mediacom, McCann Copenhagen, Advance, Bates/Red Cell, TBWA\COPENHAGEN, Tribal DDB.

I always was the crazy one so when I one day was hit by stress, I decided to fight it with creativity and movement. So I started to paint…. First oil on canvas – a bit deep and dark but it is showing my feelings. Today four years later I use my skills as an art director to build the base for my pop art and the I do ‘CrossFit’ when printing lithography and painting on top…. And you can see the journey and playfulness as a viewer today in my art.
