Community Highlights: Meet Andrew Finch of TITANS University

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Finch.

Hi Andrew, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I come from a sports and athletic family. I’m the youngest of four, and my dad tried to convince my mom to have a 5th so he could have a starting 5. Growing up, I played basketball, football, soccer, ran track/cross country, and competed briefly doing Olympic-style wresting. I’ve been training athletes for 14 years, just not from a business standpoint. One day I was out at the park watching my daughter practicing soccer and God gave me a big vision of what I was supposed to be doing, and he made away from there.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I was smart growing up, but I had one foot in the streets and one foot on the basketball court. I’ve made many mistakes, and because of that, it took me a long time to find my purpose. Between multiple college transfers to multiple minor arrests through the years, I’ve been put on my back more than a few times. One thing I teach my athletes, though, you may not like the process, but you’ll love the results. I refuse to quit. Now I get to share my testimony with my athletes, so when they face adversity in life, then they can say, “Coach TITAN taught me how to keep rising like a Phoenix from the ashes!”

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a peak performance trainer, and I’ve legally been certified to train athletes for four years but didn’t truly start using the certification until last summer. My company name is TITANS University, and TITANS stands for TAKING INITIATIVE THRIVING TO ACHIEVE NEW SUCCESS! I came up with my logo through visions that God sent me. The logo is a Spartan General Helmet with a Phoenix rising out of it. It represents being a warrior that fights through the tough times and rises up from the ashes to conquer all their fears and protect their dreams! Brand-wise, I’m most proud of all the teams, events, and organizations I’ve been able to connect with in less than a year’s time from a local park, with no facility. I’m connected to companies that have partnered with the Nike’s, Bang, Sea World, just to name a few.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Youth sports is a multi-billion dollar industry, and I truly believe that it’s going to continue to grow. More facilities will be opened and more parents will see the significance of what hiring an extra trainer for their child can and will do.
