Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeanine Thomas.
Hi Jeanine, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
It all started when I was 12. I had declared to my father that I was going to be a judge and drive a corvette. As he washed my mother’s car, he said, “ok, sweetheart.” I rode off down the street and a voice came in my head and it said,” you are going to be a doctor.” I quickly turned my bike around and went back home and said, “I changed my mind. I’m going to be a doctor.” My dad again said, “Ok.” I rode off, and 16 years later, I became a doctor. I later completed my training and became an Internal Medicine Physician.
My goal in life was to always ask why and to always be aware of the “whole person” and not just the disease process. I found that if I evaluated the entire scope of the person’s being, then I would arrive at what was wrong and what I should do about their situation. Later I understood that treating the whole person involved being cognizant of the mind, body, and soul of the person, so I started having an affinity for spas. From there, I realized that medicine and the spa were congruent and that it was important to treat the soul and the body just like I would, health and the body. This led me to understand that they were one and the same. I understood that if I treated someone from the inside out, then I needed to treated the outside in. Thus, the medical spa was born within me.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to my success has never been smooth. It couldn’t be. I understood at an early age that my journey wasn’t necessarily my own. It was a journey wrought with trials and tribulations. It had to be that way in order for me to have a testimony. I had to experience life’s ups and downs in order for me to be credible to those who I would later serve. I understood that my calling was to be a healer and one who could teach about faith through my experiences. Therefore, I never saw the obstacles as negative experiences but as necessary tools for my success and for the success of others, who were watching my every move. I understood what it meant to be the first Black in my residency program at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, as first vice president of student government at Mary Baldwin University, as the first Black Spanish and Chemistry major at Mary Baldwin University and as the first Black Board of Trustee Member at Mary Baldwin University. I understood what it meant to be the first doctor in Tarrant County to do home visits to the elderly. Someone had to break the barriers, and I never realized that a story would be born from my willingness to do what I was called to do. I was just doing what I thought I needed to do.
As you know, we’re big fans of Devine Aesthetic Solutions. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
Devine Aesthetic Solutions is a medical spa. It’s not just any medical spa; it is a place of well-being and of a 15-year dream to combine health and physical wellness and tranquility. I spent many years building Preventive Care Medical Clinic, an Internal Medicine practice, but I wanted to do more to bridge the gap between health and well-being. I was happy to be able to provide the best of both worlds to my existing patients. It took 15 years before I felt the inclination to add the physical component to the health component and now I feel super excited to have created a mind, body, and soul experience. I am most proud of the fact that I have found to a way to integrate these concepts into one experience. I feel especially happy when I am able to enhance one’s natural beauty and physical health and spiritual health into one entity.
What sets me apart is my approach to each patient, as I treat them all as individuals and not as the same. I assess the need and no matter what area that needs involves, I am able to address each need with the right approach and, therefore, yielding the best outcome. Individualization is key. We offer natural hormone pellet therapy for men and women, total body treatments for men and women, including skin rejuvenation, skin tightening, cellulite reduction, lip and face enhancements with neurotoxins and with fillers. We offer painless laser hair removal for all skin types, body contouring with skin tightening and most of all. We offer Laser-Assisted in off Liposuction and Fat Transfer including butt enhancements, breast augmentation, facial fillers with your own fat, if you choose to transfer your fat into either of those areas, otherwise, we dispose of the unwanted fat. I am the only doctor in the area with the ability to do all of those things since I have four different machines from the Alma company’s technology. We can literally do it all.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
One thing I know is that everyone has to be approached as an individual. I learned that medicine should never be cookie cutter and neither should any of the treatments that we offer. We have learned that it is important to approach each patient or client as an individual. That is why it is important to do a full consultation and a thorough evaluation of each patient. No two people are alike, and we pride ourselves in making sure that we approach each person as an individual, tailor-making each of their experiences to their needs.
