Today we’d like to introduce you to Madi Lovett.
Hi Madi, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my business in the Summer of 2020. I never thought I would be starting a business in the middle of a pandemic, but life sometimes surprises you. I wanted to enter the boutique space because I noticed that there needed to be more diversity in the way boutiques are showcasing their products. It’s 2020; there should be more representation. So, I took the plunge and set out to represent women of all sizes, shapes, and colors. Women want to see themselves in clothing brands. We deserve that. We are not all rail-thin and do not fit into one standard box. My goal with Love, Madi Boutique is to make fashion inclusive and offer clothing that women will love seeing themselves in.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
One definite struggle is starting a business in the middle of a global pandemic. Budgets are tight and people may not have extra money to spend. But, I still want to fulfill my mission of representing all women. I am very grateful for where the business is today and how far I have come in a short amount of time.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Love, Madi Boutique is an online women’s boutique focused on self-love and inclusion. Our goal is for you to love the clothes you wear. Fashion should aid in expressing yourself and feeling confident. Our hand-curated selection of women’s clothing (including curvy sizes) and accessories will help you stand out from the crowd and feel good doing it. Each piece is selected based on quality, affordability, and style. I only carry clothing on our website that I would wear myself. Plus, there is no cookie-cutter woman. Every woman deserves to feel beautiful in every outfit she puts on.
I am so proud of where we are today. I have learned so much about the boutique world and I am thankful for everyone who has helped me along this journey. There’s always so much to do and we are conquering the fashion sector one day at a time.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson that I have learned and have to constantly remind myself is that “comparison is the thief of joy”. It’s easy to compare yourself to others and how successful they make themselves out to be on social media. But, you have to stay focused and remember why you do what you do. My mission is always top of mind and I can always bring it back to focusing on my business and not someone else’s. We are all doing the best we can and that is important to remember.
