Today we’d like to introduce you to Paulette Guest.
Hi Paulette, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Some may call it a mid-life career change. Moving from Leadership and Professional Development to Head Coach at Orangetheory Fitness to Realtor; my purpose hasn’t changed. I’m still in the business of serving others. What I do best is helping others in achieving success through coaching.
In Real Estate, the goal can be homeownership as a primary residence, investment to generate income, rentals for those that desire this lifestyle, and then there’s those that need to purchase or rent to leave a situation. No matter their goal, I’m here to guide them through the process with their best interests in mind.
It was an industry that I was always interested in but didn’t have the knowledge of the many opportunities in Real Estate. What I learned over time was that you can’t wait until everything is perfect. You can’t wait until you are in position to fulfill ALL of your goals. I have to get in and absorb the knowledge so that I can execute those future goals flawlessly.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think people on the outside looking into Real Estate only see the glitz and glam. Don’t get me wrong, when it’s good – it’s good. As a professional, you want to share that you are successful. Sure, there are those individuals that want to give anyone a chance but if you can’t show you are working, the question remains; Can they close the deal? A challenge never scares me, it’s where I thrive. The struggle of continuously undoing misinformation or lack of knowledge has been the biggest challenge. No matter how much training I have gone through or conversations I have with very experienced Realtors, there’s potential clients that always know more than you. (That’s sarcasm)
I’ve learned it’s about building trust. I’ve also learned that it’s not always meant to work out with some. That’s ok. My passion is to help you succeed in achieving a goal.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
There’s so many scenarios that could happen because each person’s situation is unique. Yes, advice can be helpful from others but their situation could have had so many different factors; purchasing power, type of loan product, buying competition, selling market, and more.
My role is to guide you through your home buying and selling needs. This is your journey, and I’m here to help you along the way. It’s always fun to get to meet people and create long-lasting relationships. There’s nothing like helping people achieve a dream, a goal, or new opportunity. No matter your goal, it’s yours, and together we will achieve it. Lean on me; promising to keep the process fluid, transparent, successful, and as low-stress as possible.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
The risk in Real Estate is the up-front investment and not knowing how it is going to play out. There are many angles you can take to build your business. What some don’t realize is that becoming a Realtor is entrepreneurial. So, you have to assess your needs – are you a self-starter or do you need hand-holding. That hand-holding costs you more than I am willing to part with when commission payday arrives. I decided to work with a Broker that provided little to no guidance. That meant I had to put myself out there and ask other professionals questions. I also partnered with an experienced Realtor that I could call on. Over time, I’ve also been able to assist him. Along the way, I have built my own network that ultimately benefits my current and future clients. What I don’t know now, I will learn along the way. I give total transparency and don’t pretend to know it all. You can’t know it all in this business; every client and every deal is unique. So building relationships with not just agents but all areas of Real Estate has been key in my growth.
