Community Highlights: Meet Taylor Siemens of Aesthetic Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Siemens.

Hi Taylor, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I remember as a young child being asked that question every kid is asked: “what do you want to be when you grow up?”. The adults would tilt their head in confusion at my response. “I want to be a teacher, but not in the school. And I want to be in beauty, but not like a hairstylist because I want to be a doctor or a nurse too.” Looking back, I see how this sounded like a confused little girl, but I was confident in who I wanted to be. I don’t know how I thought this would all come to fruition, as medical aesthetics wasn’t really a “thing” at this point in time. I grew up to get my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing at Texas Tech University. I started my nursing career in the Neurosurgery Department at UT Southwestern and earned by advanced degree as a Nurse Practitioner at Texas Women’s University. During my time in NP school, I teamed up with a facial plastic surgeon in Dallas, TX. This is where I truly started to hone my craft as an aesthetic provider and developed a passion for laser medicine and helping develop other aesthetic clinicians. Fast forward to today, I have my own training and consulting business and am grateful to be involved in a multi-site medical spa brand where I get to pour into the industry daily. Turns out, I am exactly what the younger Taylor was describing: a Nurse Practitioner specializing in education and aesthetic medicine.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
My journey has been full of frustrations and questioning, but I think that is how it goes when you are so dedicated to spending your life doing something you are passionate about. It’s taken years to hone my craft, both in my aesthetic practice and in business and teaching well. The important part is that I can look back at the hardest times with gratitude for what it taught me and how it moved me forward to being the person I need to be.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Aesthetic Care NP is a training and consulting company for clinicians in the aesthetic medicine space. Founded in 2018, we focused on educating new laser users. My company was built out of necessity. When I was coming up in this space, I didn’t have a mentor. It was a scary place to be in for me having to use powerful devices on patients when I didn’t have a resource to help me deal with complications or teach me how to be a better provider. The aesthetic medicine space can be very competitive, so there are very few people willing to share their “secrets” for a successful practice. I wanted to be that safe space for others and help them learn from my mistakes and experience so they can serve their patients well.

We have come a long way in the past 4 years. We now have an app that clinicians can learn on-demand as well as private and group trainings across the country. I am proud that I have built a company out of my pains and failures to help those that come after me have a different experience with their training.

I still practice in Dallas as the Clinical Director of Vitalyc Medspa. We have locations in Dallas, Addison, Southlake, and Fort Worth is opening Fall 2022. I believe to be a good educator, you need to be experiencing what you are teaching on often. My current patients motivate me to educate well as I desire for every patient in this space to feel heard, loved, and beautiful!

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
5 years ago, I would tell you that nothing made me happier than seeing my patients happy with their results. Today, I get most excited when other clinicians reach out showing off their amazing before and after photos of their patients. I am honored to have the opportunities to pour into others and help them become more confident in their practice.
