Conversations with the Inspiring Bree Moore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bree Moore.

Bree, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started in 2013. I believe I got an urge from God to start my blog. I decided to create a website, www.breemoore, to create a platform for creatives. I worked on that website every day for hours, before and after my obligations. I reached out to creatives via Instagram. I simply posted their “talents” on my blog. I had the intentions to become a blogger but there was a bigger purpose for me. I launched the website on September 25, 2013.

It’s been on ever since.

After the launch, I created a campaign on indiegogo to raise money to travel to Berlin to meet a designer, Coko Diamond. While I was there, I had a conversation with someone I featured on my website, Keenan of INERD. He motivated me to produce my first fashion show. He told me, “Bree if you produce this fashion show, we will travel from Philly to participate.” In excitement, I decided to plan things out. I contacted a few friends and family. In April 2014, the very first fashion show happened.

We’ve been poppin’ ever since.

This November, we celebrated the 5th Annual Bree Moore Productions Fashion Show. It was the 5th Fashion Show in Dallas but the 6th overall. In March 2017, we produced a fashion show in Philadelphia with INERD.

Has it been a smooth road?
Of course, the road traveled has not been smooth. At this point of the journey, I’m ready for whatever. I have found that it is best to dead the issues you can not control. If you have done all you can, let it go. Allow God/Universe/ Life to take its course. You will SURVIVE. Let it go… the problems you do have control over, do not fear… find a solution and take over the situation. I refuse to allow anything to stop me. I believe I am here for a reason with a purpose. I am ready to execute.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I like to call myself a creative. I wear multiple hats. I own a production company, Bree Moore Productions, based in downtown Dallas. We produce fashion shows, Closet Sales and an after-school program.

The Annual fashion shows take place every November in Dallas. Our goal is to give up and coming designers a platform to express and display their work.

The Closet Sales are similar to “Pop Up Shops” but more unique. We partner with local small businesses to sell merchandise between $5-$20. There are live music, free mimosas, and good vibes. We try our best to make sure our vendors get the chance to network with the attendees and ultimately have a good time. The Closet Sales take place every 3rd Sunday in Dallas and every 4th Saturday in New Orleans.

We have partnered with Desoto ISD’s ACE program to teach 1st through 4th graders different aspects of fashion. The after-school program takes place every Monday – Thursday at Northside Elementary.

Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
My advice is to be patient and does not chase the money. Please take full advantage of unpaid opportunities. These opportunities will give you clarity. If you can do it for free and still have the love for it, it’s meant for you. You also have the opportunity to build and maintain relationships. You’re able to show people, you are dedicated to the cause without a dollar being attached. I’ve benefited most from unpaid opportunities. Most importantly, please know everything that LASTS takes time! Do not rush it. Do not become frantic when things don’t happen right away. Continue to work hard and stay committed, everything you desire will happen.
