Conversations with the Inspiring Brittani Wood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittani Wood.

Brittani, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Would you believe me if I said it all started with a jean jacket? Well, it’s true!

On this special Saturday, I walked into the Dallas Market Center with giddiness to visit Janice Taylor at her showroom, where my one of a kind (in my mind) jean jacket awaited me. This jean jacket was sought out by many, but Janice so kindly let me reserve it knowing I had eyed it HEAVILY the week prior. The moment I put on this faded blue, embroidered, holey jean jacket with the quote “Don’t just sit back and wait, create your own future” on the back, the universe opened up and showed me the way. Just like that, I walked out of Janice’s showroom, feeling inspired and ready to tackle the mission that was set out in front of me… to help women feel the way I felt in that moment. LIMITLESS.

During the process of building Apeiron, it was important for me to remain true to my personal mission, to be real, raw and intentional. During a few years of extreme illness, I learned the power of our words, and how shifting your mindset to self-love and living authentically, could not only save my life but those around me. This is why you will find positive words and affirmations used throughout my website and social media. I chose clothes as my starting point for Apeiron because of the impact they have on our day to day. Clothes have helped me thru the fun times, the hard times, and the in between times. They have made or shattered the way I felt, as the outfits in my closet at that time were either bringing me to the state of consciousness I desired, or not. At the end of the day, we all want to feel good and clothes are generally our easiest asset for a mind shift.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I think the biggest thing you can give yourself is time. Time to fully understand your mission, your drivers and the impact of your pursuit. After that, just keep taking courageous leaps towards your goals. No one really knows what they’re doing, so as long as you have a good foundation to keep pushing you forward, you can get thru the hurdles that come your way. Unfortunately, fears will arise in various stages of your process, but it’s how you choose to handle these unconscious narratives/stories/beliefs that will make all the difference. As someone who has been in the investment banking world my entire adult life, I was faced with the major fear of failure and of being seen, but really who hasn’t? However, instead of treating these fears as roadblocks, I looked at them as growth opportunities. I am grateful for this experience, as the illusion of fear and doubt that I felt so strongly at times, served as an opportunity to navigate the very emotions and feelings I am trying to help others break through. One thing I wish someone would have told me, is people want to see you succeed, it just may not be the people you would have expected. Biggest thing to remember is, it’s not personal. I will say that again, IT IS NOT PERSONAL. If you lack support from key individuals, you being upset is due to expectations that you have placed onto them and is not a true reflection of that particular person. We all want to be cheered on, but I guarantee when you release the expectations, you will be pleasantly surprised how many humans are here to support you.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Apeiron Label story. Tell us more about the business.
What if you could feel infinite, and boundless every day? That’s the question that inspired our collection here at Apeiron Label. Apeiron is the Greek word to describe this feeling, and our mission is to inspire clients to feel just that, limitless. Life is too short to feel stifled and insecure! While positive mental health, self-love, and acceptance of oneself should be at the forefront of your daily journey, putting on a piece that enhances your smile never hurts. Along with providing clothes that give you a little pep in your step, I am excited to introduce our newest component, Apeiron Lifestyle. Apeiron Lifestyle is our coaching program that will facilitate the learning of positive psychology, human development, nutrition, neuroscience, and more to maximize our clients potential. To ensure the highest level of coaching for our clients, I have dedicated myself to completing the Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credentialing process with the prestigious International Coach Federation (ICF). So stay tuned!

So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
YES! The opportunities are limitless. Just look around, there’s an entire community of women who have achieved what they set out to do. We have CEO’s, founders of start-ups, moms to our future generation, and women just spreading their love and thoughts into this world. If you focus on your limiting beliefs and thoughts, you will experience limited success in return. If you feel stuck where you are at, take a hard look at what it is you are doing. Are you passionate about it? Are you sharing the best version of you? Is there something that you could slightly modify that would have a positive impact on your pursuit and those around you? I truly believe that if you set out to do something, and it was meant for you, it will be possible. No matter what you decide to do, if you remain authentic and true to your values, you will succeed. It may not be the version of success you were seeking, but by honoring yourself and your goals, you have achieved personal success regardless of the outcome.
