Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Heaton.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always had a fitness-centered lifestyle and have loved being an active person. At a young age, I began gymnastics classes, and as I grew older, I continued to pursue every sport I could, such as softball, basketball, competitive cheerleading, and track. These were just a few of my extra activities throughout high school. It was early in my college years, I realized keeping active and the fit was a true passion of mine. I started working out at the rec center at Texas State University (Eat’em up, Cats!) where I first fell in love with weight training. After lifting regularly for some time, I signed up for an NPC fitness show and began a 12-week prep. I competed in a few shows where I placed and even brought home some hardware. Being on a stage, getting my hair and makeup done, and wearing a gorgeous suit was SO much fun!
However, I never felt like my heart was fully in it and knew it wasn’t something I wanted to continue. The next couple of years, I dabbled in different workout styles, studied, earned my personal training certification and continued to earn my degree in Health & Wellness Promotions at Texas State. I have had many influential people in my life throughout these years that helped and guided me in my journey. That’s how I began to learn that helping and encouraging others to live THEIR best and healthiest life was what I wanted to do. Once I graduated from Texas State in 2014, I moved to Dallas where I’ve continued to pursue my life as a fitness instructor and influencer.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’m very blessed to say I have had some amazing opportunities and some very exciting moments during my journey, but just as most other journeys there are always some hard times. As cheesy as it sounds, the hard times have really been what make the victories so amazing. I’ve had moments in my life where I’ve questioned if what I’m doing is really worth it and I’ve been around people who didn’t encourage or believe in me. I’ve also had moments of self-doubt, but, when you have a passion for something and can’t stop thinking about it, you don’t give up. If I hadn’t survived the hard times, then being where I am now, probably wouldn’t feel as great as it does. The most exciting part about it is I’m not finished yet!
With that being said, I am extremely thankful for the support system I have, and those who have continued to encourage and helped me to reach my goals. My advice to other woman is to always surround yourself with like-minded individuals and to NEVER give up. Get out of your comfort zone, if possible, quit the job you’re not happy with, and be okay with being uncomfortable and learn how to hustle. When you learn to embrace the struggles and view them as growing periods of your life – that’s when you’ll become a force to be reckoned with.
What should we know about Brittany Heaton? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Most days, you can find me at F45 Dallas Mainstreet co-instructing one of the classes. If I’m not there, it’s likely I’m at Lorna Jane, helping women find the perfect fitness outfit that helps them feel confident to pursue an active lifestyle. With everything I do and everyone I speak to, I always strive to offer encouragement and any advice I can to lead someone to live a happier and healthier life. From helping a beginner find her first pair of workout leggings to pushing someone to be their very best in the gym, these really are more than just a job to me. I’m blessed to say I love what I do every day. My future goals are to continue to be a fitness influencer and help to guide individuals to find that same desire to be happy and healthy themselves!
Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
That’s a difficult one to answer for sure. I have had SO many women who have played influential roles in not only my fitness journey but life as well. However, there is only one woman who stands out above all as the greatest inspiration in my life and that is my mother. She has always worked hard and put her family and God first. That is exactly the kind of woman I aspire to be and I could not have been blessed with anyone better to learn from. I love you, mom! : )
