Conversations with the Inspiring Brooke “Bee” Sanders

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke “Bee” Sanders.

Brooke, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Since I was a younger kid, I was always trying to create groups or creative ways to get everybody together. Growing up, I organized different things in school and college so event planning has always been an indirect skill that I have. In regard to getting where I got today, About five years ago, I was a victim of domestic violence which led me to relocate from Saint Louis Missouri and have a fresh start. I decided to rebuild spiritually mentally and strategically. After completing school with an AAS in Hospitality Management in 2017, I was able to secure a nice position in the hotel industry with the help of my Mentor Talia Dancer. After school, I started networking in the Dallas area and linked with another amazing young woman (Victoria Samone) in 2018, who mentored me in the event realm and allowed me to be a junior production assistant for her amazing company LiveXXV Entertainment. The knowledge I received from Victoria and her partner (Brittney Woodard) allowed me to become a better professional in my event planning business The Bee Glow. With The Bee Glow, I launched a strategic unpolitical correct professional development panel titles “Mimosas & Master Plans,” and the rest is history.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The journey has not been easy by any means. As a mother of a four-year-old, I have dealt with a lot of adversity, I have to juggle being a full-time single parent, an entrepreneur, and maintaining a 9-5. I receive criticism from “chasing my dreams” because my primary concern should be a foundation that is solid for my child. However, creating multiple streams of income, and following my ambition is and will continue to create a solid foundation for my child and also inspire him to never feel that he can’t accomplish any goal he has set that is outside of the norm. I have run into toxic friendships, people that are opportunists, and bad business dealings. On the other hand, I have met amazing people with purpose, genuine love, and amazing millennial who I can count on. My advice for other women is to follow your dreams. Push through what you go through, be unapologetic about your self-love and always speak favor over your life. The universe rewards those who are genuine and those who work hard. Trust God’s timing and not yours.

What should we know about The Bee Glow? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My social media name is “networking_bee” I have gotten that name by connecting people to others that will help them with their business or their clientele. I am an also event planner and coordinator. With the company ” The Bee Glow” I offer an array of services from event planning, consultations, candy buffet setups, etc. The Bee Glow also powers a series called “Mimosas and Masterplans” which highlights rising young professionals and entrepreneurs and places them on a panel to speak to their peers and not AT their peers. The main purpose for everything I do is to highlight other amazing people. I believe in networking horizontally. I am a firm believer in the saying “everybody eats.” Even on my panel, Dallas is home but Saint Louis is where my heart will always be. When I do Mimosas and Masterplans, there is always one person from Saint Louis on the panel so that they are able to expand their audience as well. I believe in being genuine over chasing clout. Quality over quantity. Substance over social status. These values I set in my life help me with discernment and how I carry “The Bee Glow.”

Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
Yes. With my Granny who raised me, I have an old soul. I watched her sacrifice a lot to care for us and when she passed I learned about a lot of dreams she never got the opportunity to chase because she always cared for others. This has taught me to go after my goals no matter what. Also, I always traveled with my grandma when I was younger this exposed me to different environments. Being in different environments has allowed me to adapt to my surroundings and how to carry my self in certain settings. I believe spending money on my dreams and trips and other small businesses are more important than spending money excessively name brands and unnecessary corporations. Now, when I handle my business dealings, I can’t be bought because I value the quality of life and experiences over the material world.
