Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Franklin.
Jordan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My story is one of shortcomings and failure that pushed me to victory and success. I’m a fighter and always have been. I believe that’s one of the attributes that make me a pretty d*** good attorney. I work primarily with small businesses, entrepreneurs and creatives/entertainers. This is a group of individuals that have to fight and overcome adversity a lot. Why not have someone on your team that understands what it means to fight and be persistent in the face of adversity?
Has it been a smooth road?
No process is smooth and I think it’s super important to be honest in that. I had to take the Texas Bar Exam (the licensing exam for attorneys) 3 times before successfully passing it. After failing the first time, by 9 points, I lost all confidence in myself. I felt like a failure, but it was during that period in my life I prayed that God would come in and rebuild me the way He intended me to go and mold/refine me in who He envisioned I become. That was the best decision I’ve ever made in my life. Once I passed its been blessing after blessing after blessing.
My biggest advice to other women and young women on their journey is put your full trust in God and watch him work. Trust the process. It is hard to understand when you are in it, but you will be better for it.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The Franklin Law Group story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize in Trademark Law primarily. Trademarks are the area that affords an individual protections over their brand/company names, logos, slogans etc. Trademarks are about 90% of what I do and within all industries. The other 10% of my business consists of Business Law matters (business formation) and Contracts (everything from drafting to negotiating).
One of my biggest professional goals is to really make a name for myself in the Trademark industry. Its a growing group but still small enough to navigate. I love the fact that I’m fairly young in the industry but I am already carving a niche for myself and making a good impression on my colleagues with 20+ years experience.
It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
I read legal blogs which are no fun for most people lol same with books. As an attorney, I think it is important to always know if and when there are changes in the area you practice, so we HAVE to constantly read. Outside of that, I have a huge fascination with learning languages. I primarily use the app “Duolingo,” which is free and I listen to language podcasts “Coffee Break Italian and French” to help with auditory learning. They really help and offer other languages for anyone interested in learning.
Of course, the Bible App is a good life help app for me.
