Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Hernandez.
Maria, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My journey started when I was in high school, before my junior year. The day I went to chose my upcoming classes for my junior year, I knew they had a cosmetology class. I was not sure what I had to do to get in the cosmetology program. I requested that class & I got accepted, I started in 2013. I completed cosmetology school in 2014, my next challenge was passing my state board exams.
Once I had my license, I decided I wanted to focus on nails although at that time I no experience with nails. I decided to start practicing every day, after three months of practicing I had my first client. I was not too good at it but, I would always tell myself PRACTICE MAKES PERFECTION. After a long journey of practicing, watching videos & learning new techniques, I feel blessed to have the opportunity of doing something I LOVE for a living. Blessed to be the working with one of the best nail technicians in the Irving area; Nails By Nayra.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I feel like it has definitely been a smooth road for me for the fact that I have always had my husbands support. I am always willing to learn from other people. I am a visual learner, therefore, is really easy for me to catch on new nail trends & designs.
As on every profession, there are always going to be some challenges but, you have to overcome them. My advice to any young women who are starting their journey is to NEVER give up, be consistent, showcase your work/talent, and always try your best to improve your techniques.

I am a licensed nail technician. I specialize in acrylic application, unique & beautiful nail art, Nexgen dipping powder, natural nail care, gel manicures, and waxing. As a service provider, I am most proud of my clients loving my work & most definitely coming back to me. I think what sets me apart from others is my availability to interact with my clients and be able to create something they will love.
