Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Calderon.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Stephanie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We all want to lose weight and get healthy until it’s time to put in the work. I use to say I tried everything to lose the weight, but if I tried everything, I would have been fit by now. I wanted the easy way out, I tried quick diets, tried about every program and product you can think of, but never stuck to anything for more than two weeks. I was lazy, I simply didn’t know where or how to start. Until one day, I went to the doctor and realized I was pre-diabetic and had no choice but to drop the weight. That’s when it got serious… I had to be determined to be consistent to get to where I wanted to be. No more quick fix. Being over 320 lbs having six kids, juggling a full-time job, having no energy-saving, I didn’t have the time, it made me make the time. I had 24 hours, this meant I had to be up at 4:30 am to get my work out done. I taught myself how to eat. I told myself I’m one meal closer to my goal. I didn’t know what I was doing at the gym but we all start somewhere.
I was afraid of what people might think of me since I was so overweight until I invested in myself. I reached out to people who can help me, I googled it. I made a goal, I made a plan and I stuck to it, no more excuses, Stephanie. This weight is coming off. I was able to lose 120 pounds in a matter of 12 months, doing fasted cardio and weightlifting and, of course, eating proper meal learning how to eat real food. I learned that this is a lifestyle, this is not a diet, no quick fix, this is something that I’m going to have to do for the rest of my life while enjoying life with my children. I learned to balance. I learned how to eat, went to eat what to eat, how to work out, how to believe in myself, how to make myself proud. I fell in love with Stephanie all over again. We tend to give the excuse that we don’t have the time for it, we tend to blame our kids for being overweight, we blame illnesses for not allowing us to do activities. But we have to stop being the victims. Who doesn’t get tired of the same chicken and broccoli, I’ve learned how to cook delicious nutritious meals along with this journey. When people started seeing the change in me, that ask me how I was doing it and I explained it to them, they started asking me to meal prep their food and help them lose weight and I’ll have you don’t have to eat something you don’t like in order to lose the weight. There are always healthier options and we have a choice.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Oh man, of course not, it was a struggle every day, there are sacrifices that we have to face every day. I would get up and tell myself I can do this if either people can do it, I can do it, so I had to cut the excuses and face reality. How bad that I want this, I have to be honest with myself and realize if I put myself in the situation, I can get myself out of it, one day at a time, I had to stop blaming my kids for being overweight. I had to stop making the excuse of not having the time, if I can do it, if I could juggle the time for my job, my six kids, housework, homework, kid activities, anybody can do this, it all comes down to how bad do you want it. What are you willing to sacrifice to get to where you want to be, you don’t have to be at your goal weight to be proud of yourself, be proud of yourself for every pound you have lost, learn to fall in love with yourself again, learn to love yourself for who you are, learn not to compare your journey to others. Everybody is different, but just know that nothing is impossible, you have to be goal oriented, you have to have a plan, you have to ask her how old you have to wake up every day and know that you can do this, that is not a quick fix, no wait diet, this is something that you’re going to have to do for the rest of your life. Let’s stop being lazy and looking for the easy way out, this is your journey, embrace that, let’s put in the work and get a result.
