Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Hardy.
Hi Leah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Photography has been an interest and passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I guess you could say I grew up with photography all around me. My Grandfather was a photographer who opened his own studio in 1946 in Michigan. He successfully ran the business for many years and eventually passed the business onto my Uncle, who ran it for the next 25+ years. Two of my brothers are also photographers and videographers. I guess you could say it’s a passion for many of my family members.
My own photography business started over eight years ago in Orange County, California. I started shooting children’s portraits and family portraits. Over time, I decided to start opening up into other areas such as corporate headshots, weddings and events. In 2019, I moved to Frisco, Texas, where I decided to continue my venture. I have been so blessed to have met and worked with so many amazing clients and families in Texas, and am so thankful for how quickly my company has grown here. My goal as a photographer is to capture life in a photo in hopes that these images will create amazing memories for my clients.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I honestly feel so thankful for my photography business and its growth. I started small. Very small. And over time, thru mainly referrals, my business grew quicker than I ever could have imagined! I have to give so much credit to my clients. I am so humbled and have so much gratitude when people ‘pass my information’ along to their friends, family, or co-workers. It really is the biggest compliment! Social media has also been such an amazing tool that has been placed in my hand. Moving from California to Texas, I wasn’t sure how I was going to re-start my business from scratch. However, I was able to join some communities on social media that really opened so many doors to meeting new potential clients.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Most people don’t like taking photos or feel uncomfortable in front of the camera. I want to change that! Most families dread taking family photos because, let’s be honest, children can sometimes be a lot of ‘work’ on family photo day! I want to make it a ‘fun’ experience. I want the kids to enjoy themselves so their true smiles come out. My sessions DON’T involve the words ‘say cheese.’ I like to make a game of things during our time together! Not only do the children have fun, but so do I! When it comes to events, I want my clients to relax and enjoy the day. And when they look back on the photos, I want to do everything I can to help them re-live their event thru the images, and look back and smile! I want my photography to be more than just ‘taking photos.’ I want it to be an experience and help capture life in its current state so that one day, they can look back and be so glad they took time to book that session! And leaning on that, I want to make my sessions available to everyone. I offer affordable rates to make it a little easier on people because everyone deserves to have those amazing memories documented!
