Today we’d like to introduce you to Darlene Wesley.
Hi Darlene, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story, country girl, born in Athens TX. Thinking I was the black sheep of the family. This was never stated by my parents. This was just what I thought, because I was the darker of the three children. Middle child thinking I had to be better to be accepted. I graduated HS, receiving basketball scholarship. Graduating in 1985 with AS in nursing. After return home from the Jr college, I get pregnant, not married. Therefore I worked to support my son. Never to return to get my BS. Well, four years later pregnant again. Not married. Single mother at the age of 22. I had to change my path. Remembering what mother and grandma taught me. Trust God, accept Him and follow after Him. Well, it can be easier said than to do. Not so if you do as He say, things will work out for you. I can say because of me accepting Him (Jesus), my latter is greater and better. Issues yes, but with God, I’m able to go thru. I trust Him. I came into my own at the age of 28, accepting Christ seriously and realizing without Him I would be nothing.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
After the passing of my sister May 25, 2015. Stress got me in April 2016 I had Bells palsy, my right side of my face paralyze. This should’ve destroyed me, but I laughed my way to Health try Christ. I made the trip to Jerusalem in 2017 to be baptized in the Jordan river and going to the tomb to see Jesus was not there. Then a year later, March 27, 2018, was a major incident I had a heart attack and survived. I have three stents, right valve 80 %, left 90% and main left 100% blocked. God is good. I believe there is a purpose for me. I’m here to encourage those that think they can’t, I say you CAN. Mind over matter.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a phlebotomist or med tech. I draw blood or you could say vein punctures. I’ve been doing this for 15 years. Enjoy it because of the different disabilities I can perform my job duties well. I’m not to say that I’m different from others, but I do things as if I was the patient. I have that I care/love you work habit.
My jewelry business has allowed me to meet many and share my testimony with others to give them hope.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice is: Do not compare your success to anyone. Just know that there are highs and lows, but stay focus and consistent. Greater will come.
