Conversations with Joy Jenkins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joy Jenkins.

Hi Joy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have always been interested in beauty products, like most women, and also wanted to start a ‘side hustle’, whether that was something like teaching Pilates or becoming a health coach. The challenges I kept telling myself where my hobbies were not going to pay the bills or sustain the lifestyle that I have chosen, much less send my son to private school. Then the pandemic came. What a challenge on us all to just stop everything. No more manicures, no more school or church, and no more getting dressed up to go anywhere!!

My Corporate job in software was not slowing down. I worked very hard and long hours all during shutdown. Endless zoom calls. After talking with my Significant Other, we knew I was expecting a big commission, and because of His support and encouragement, I decided to plan and take a sabbatical. That led me to researching and meeting other entrepreneurs who coincidently were in the beauty industry. They had helped others launch brands, and I also took a few online seminars to learn about manufacturers and distribution.

Each experience in what I was learning led me to My Joy Beauty, and we are so excited to see where it goes!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been somewhat smooth because of our research and collaboration with other women to learn from their lessons. There is also the fact that I am in my 50s staring a business and have my long history of business experience to transfer to our launch. Struggles, I would say, are being impatient and expecting your posts and cart sales to go viral or explode. It’s really about consistency (like many other endeavors) and figuring out the unknown.

Other struggles for me personally is just being uncomfortable putting myself out there as the brand ambassador and feeling at ease for videos and social media! That is the worst!

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Summary here: https://bit.ly/3PP8PJR What sets us apart?

1. With My Joy Beauty it starts with what ISN’T in our products

2. Our products are multi-tasking; for example, our Rose Gold Oil is an anti-oxidant moisturizer, improves wrinkles, and excellent for acne or rosacea

3. You don’t need a glam team, weeks to wait for results, or elaborate instruction (our products are EASY and IMMEDIATE results!)

Alright, so before we go, can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We would love their support by leaving a review on Google or our Facebook page; we would love to collaborate with shops and set up “Brow Bars” or pop-ups for other artists or businesses. Send us a note at info@myjoybeauty.com
