Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristy Tomlinson.
Hi Kristy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
This journey began with photographing friends and my own kiddos. Many years ago, I asked my husband for a camera as a Christmas gift. His exact words, “Why do you need this camera? Are you going to become a professional photographer?” Little did we know, this would be the beginning of one of my life’s greatest blessings.
A few years later, I was approached by a precious friend who served on the Waxahachie Junior Service League. She asked if I would donate my time to photograph their Santa booth at their annual Christmas Market. The profits of the sessions were going to benefit foster children in the area and of course, I jumped at the opportunity to help. I started the business after that and have never looked back. I rarely advertise anymore and get most of my clients by word of mouth. If I had to pick one area of photography that I truly love, I would have to say, senior graduates! I love being able to build up and pour into who they are! God is faithful and I have never doubted his hand in my life. I can see his handiwork in every aspect, down to the clients he sends to me. My favorite bible scripture is, “Therefore encourage and build one another up “(1 Thessalonians 5:11). In all things, this is my mission.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
A smooth road? LOL! What is that? I never anticipated a smooth road but I can testify that God has been with me every step of the way. Most of the struggles that I felt were learning what my strengths were and what truly challenged me as a business owner. Being a creative individual, learning the finance part of the business has been the most challenging.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Capturing love and joy is really what I strive to accomplish. I adore seeing people happy and love what I do! Becoming a part of the memory that my clients make when they schedule a session with me is what it is all about. I think for Thirteen Sixty once you become a client; you become family. That is what sets me apart, my clients become my dearest friends!
