Conversations with Krystal Hall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystal Hall.

Hi Krystal, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I realized I wanted to start a business my sophomore year of college (March 2018) while attending North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, NC. I wanted to have a purpose, I wanted to help others and I also wanted to make some extra change. With the help of my mother and close friends, I made the decision to become a personal stylist and name my business after myself, Krys Stylez, because fashion and styling were something I was good at. I styled all of my friends for various occasions and my peers always came to me for fashion advice. Not to mention, I had done plenty of fashion shows on campus during this time and made myself known for my personal style. This left me feeling that being a personal stylist was the best path for me!

Upon discovering my new passion, I reached out to some of my friends and peers to help me bring my vision to life. My dear friend Kiara made my very first logo, website, and color palette for my business. My mother even invested in my very first business cards, flyers to pass out around campus, and pens to leave in my classrooms. I was on the right track!

After carrying out the journey within the college, I moved to Charlotte, NC (a newer and bigger city) and I wanted to level up my fashion and styling skills while also attracting loyal clients that could help take my business to the next level. I finally made my business an LLC for more credibility and coverage, rebranded my website, and became more consistent on social media and by attending networking events within the city. While I’m still within that transition of leveling up, I have seen so much more growth and progress within my business!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth? Not so much. There were and still are times when I often feel like I’m not doing enough. I may feel as if I’m not seen or thought of. However, I quickly had to realize that those feelings or thoughts are all false! My business is here, my business is important and my business will forever be great! Krys Stylez is forever.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a personal stylist and creative director with my own business, Krys Stylez, LLC.

Outside of my business, I’m also a plus-size influencer always looking for ways to express myself through my passion for fashion, creative content, and expressive and witty copywriting skills. With a platform of over 20K supportive followers on Instagram and brand credibility with brands such as Tampax, Belk, Forever21, Rebdolls, Savage X Fenty, Shein Curve, and more.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
From just visiting Texas and having a grand time, I love how there’s always something to do even when you feel as if there’s nothing to do. There are so many talented people, creatives, and others who may be just like me — Ambitious, driven, and determined. Not to mention, the younger crowd that is constantly being pulled into the city is the type of vibes and atmosphere I’m currently looking for.
