Today we’d like to introduce you to David Ramirez.
Hi David, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I started rug making in the beginning of 2020 as a hobby. I saw that more and more people were interested in this new trend, and that’s where my business began. I started an Instagram page, and it quickly became my priority to showcase the designs I was creating. You can find us @Loaded.Rugs
After many trials and errors and trying different fabrics and yarns, I was able to conquer the rug-making business.
I’ve had the opportunity to make rugs for a lot of people, even some celebrities too. I am extremely grateful for every single customer that has supported us in these past two years.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road; rug-making is a skilled task, it takes a lot of patience and practice. You are working with a fast-paced gun, and any slight move can ruin days of long hard work. I’ve had a few times where I just threw away hours of work and wanted to quit. To those days, I simply just take a break and start new the next day.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I make custom rugs. Do you have a business logo or an art design? Do you have a favorite sports team or character? I can make it happen! I’m known as Loaded Rugs, one of the first to start rug making in DFW. I’ve had a couple of viral videos that have helped me gained recognition and amazing customers. I’m proud of where this business has taken me so far; there is still a lot more to achieve. The possibilities are endless. What sets me apart from others is how I connect with my followers and customers. I am being my true self when I’m creating content. I want others to see that there is a real person behind this, a husband a father, and an artist. My personality can be a bit different, but that’s the whole point. Be you!
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My advice is to network as much as you can. Get out there and simply start conversations. Say hi to everyone you meet. I’ve had a lot of opportunities by just starting small talks. Going to conventions or being vendors at your local markets have also helped me reached new customers. This year I have a lot of plans coming up, and one of them is attending sneakers convention to showcase new designs and ideas.
