Today we’d like to introduce you to Denedra Hutchinson.
Hi Denedra, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I recently relocated to Texas from Ohio. I’ve always enjoyed doing hair. It took me some time to finally enroll in hair school. I thought I was far too old to pursue a career such as being a hairstylist at such a late age. I’m still learning and I can truly say this is something I’ll never get bored with.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The road hasn’t been smooth but, I’ve met some incredible people throughout my journey. I have a lot of people who support me and truly believe I’m a great fit for the industry. I believe my personality has played a huge part in path. Not being afraid to put myself out there. Often times we’re afraid to ask for help.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a hairstylist. I specialize in natural protective styles. My clients typically visit me for faux locs and hair maintenance in between protective styles. I also offer relaxation massages to my clients as an extended service in which I often travel to their homes.
I’m most proud of myself. As I took a leap of faith and moved to another city after finishing hair school. I’ve never lived this far away from my family and I’ve managed to meet some amazing people over the course of the two years I’ve been here in Texas. I truly appreciate those who’ve allowed me to come into their homes. As well as those whose entrusted me with their hair.
I think what sets me apart from others may be my personality and sense of humor. All of my clients seem to tell me they feel very comfortable when I’m around and they love the atmosphere as well as how patient I am. I know at times we hate when people ask a million questions but, I appreciate the fact that my opinion matters when it comes to making decision with their hair care.
What’s next?
I look forward to meeting new people. Building a larger clientele and possibly working as a full-time hairstylist. I’ve met some incredible hairstylist and I look forward building in the area.
