Daily Inspiration: Meet DJ Yuh

Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ Yuh.

Hi DJ, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, I started my DJ career late 2017 in Oklahoma with a laptop and mini controller my brother got me. I was so fascinated with the art and within a couple months I got my first gig with the African Student Association of my school (Cameron University). Reeling from that success, more gig opportunities started coming in; ranging from house parties to private events. I moved to Texas in 2019 where I expanded my reach. I got my very first gig in Texas and my career took off from there.

Funny story about how my name came about: so, my name actually started out as imyuhdj which I heard from a voice sampler, and then Mc uche at one of the events I worked at, kept saying it wrong as djyuh djyuh and it just got stuck with me so I kept it. And now we have Dj Yuh

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Hmm, well it has not been an easy path I’ll say. It’s tough getting bookings especially being an up-and-coming DJ due to clients not trusting your work. I’ve had situations where clients would cancel days to the events cause they don’t feel comfortable with one skills as they’ve never had me play before, which is quite understandable. Keeping the vibe going and making sure clients are happy after every event is more or less like a challenge as well and then during the time of the pandemic, business was really slow for DJs. There were close to no events going on and clubs were closing down because of the pandemic. So yeah, things have not been all smooth and nice but as time goes on, we’re working towards greater things.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Dj as we know and I’m open and ready to play at any type of events. Bookings go through my manager, my team, and my social media. I also offer a team of event planners, photographers/videographers and a range of Mc’s that could be dealt has a package deal if someone was interested. I have played a number of events in the DFW and Out of State, especially in the African community have established a name for myself with the help of God and my Team (A4l Entertainment Management). Our main Goal is to deliver customer satisfaction at each and every event.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
God, my family, and my reputation, because without God I wouldn’t be where I am today and without the help of my family who worked really hard for me to be here today to give the world Djyuh, and lastly my reputation because I have certainly put in a lot of work and I most definitely need to keep setting the bar higher.
