Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Juarez.
Hi Laura, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Hi! It all began back in 2019 I started making T-shirts for friends and family. Which I later realized wasn’t my true passion. Since I was already involved in the creative community on social media, I stumbled across a tumbler page and was immediately fascinated with all the glitter and shine. Because I’m an inpatient person, I went to Hobby Lobby that same day and bought everything I needed to make my first tumbler. Family and friends began requesting orders, and I was able to get more practice in with different techniques. Seeing the tumblers now is a reflection of how much they trusted me and supported me,
Shortly after I went for it and announced CraftyKrafts, little did I know how much this new venture would mean to me and where it would lead me. Not only is it something I can call my own, but it has turned into my own therapy and safe space.
Although it hasn’t been the easiest road, just like with any other business constantly comparing to others, I let go and let God lead the way. 3 years later, I have built my own brand, feel confident in my work, and love to be in my craft room creating.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Just like any business venture, there’s always going to be some bumps along the road. At one point, I did hit a funk and struggled through a depression, and I felt like I wasn’t in a creative space, but luckily God and my husband helped me get through it and move forward. Also, not to mention that starting a new hobby can get a little pricey. Especially during the trial-and-error stage. Social Media is also a challenge due to the fact that you may not always get the interactions that I hope for, and that can sometimes be a little discouraging. Just reminding myself that I was doing the work and showing up kept me motivated to never stay down.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I would consider myself a resin artist. I make tumblers, pens, keychains, coasters, and more resin items. However, I love to create tumblers because I have a bigger canvas and can express myself more creativity. I have two top sellers in my shop, but I’m mostly known for the small details that I put in all my work. Because my style is anywhere from western to chic, I have a very unique take on my tumblers. My two top sellers and what I’m most proud of is a Harry Potter-inspired tumbler and a unicorn sprinkle drip tumbler. Yes, it’s probably what you’re thinking. The detail that goes into the wizard-inspired tumbler is 100% unique. From getting snips of book pages and burning the edges to apply to the tumbler. My unicorn drip tumbler was inspired by a chic and cute idea. Adding a drip design and topping it with sprinkles to make it a 3D design. What I believe sets me apart from others is that I will sketch a rough draft for your order by hand and will 100% make sure that the client loves their order. From the moment the initial communication begins about a new order till delivery, I make sure it’s a smooth and fun process.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is that the client is as proud to show off their item as much as I enjoyed creating it. I take pride in all of my work that I love seeing the client’s initial expression. That, to me, makes it all worth all the late nights.
