Today we’d like to introduce you to Twee Nguyen.
Since I was at a young age I always love makeup , getting my hair done and my nails painted. My family always says I’m the most sassy girly girl between my sister and I .
So I started being in this hair beauty industry in 2005 in California after I graduated from beauty school I didn’t really work until I got hired at Supercut, after working there for few years I got hired to work at a different salon . It’s an high ends salon, it was a good experienced at a different levels, because I wanted to get more experience with the trendy looks and to know what it’s like to work at a high end’s salon environment. There I met more other stylists and learned a lot from each of them, while working as a hairstylist I got a lot of people asking if I also do makeup as well, I remembered I met this one lady there she was a long time client at the salon and she asked me if you could do her makeup and hair for her for an event one time because her makeup artist has an emergency at the time, I was a little hesitated but heck I took that chance and turned out she loved my works both hair and makeup. After that I became her HMUA for all the events she needed to attend then she referred her friends and her Friends’ friends, nd learned a lot from each of them, I also met quite interesting clients as well.
Fast forward… to Dallas TX, we moved to Dallas in 2013 for my husband’s job. It was very hard for me to leave California, I’m a family kinda girl, I like to stay close to family as much as I can get. And I was scared to start over again, but I found a salon here after 2 weeks in moved to Dallas and I worked there as a hairstylist for over 8 years, while working there I also have the ability to build clientele for my makeup business it called BeautyByTwee, I also got to meet and work with one of the best Makeup artists in town Tamie Nguyen, we became friend and she’s also my mentor about this beauty industry. Now I have a little suite studio in Richardson called BeautyByTwee Studio where I provide full-service studio bridal makeups ,updos and other services such as women, men and kids haircut, coloring, highlights, balayage, and other special events makeup Pinterest inspired.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I love my career but the road has not been smooth, it’s bumpy, the scariest part is when you starting out and building your own new clientele, I remembered when I just started out having my own little studio I couldn’t sleep or eat, the questions kept running through my mind “how am I going to get clients?” “Will I be, ok?” Am I doing the right thing?” “What if?” For the first few weeks, I didn’t have any clients but luckily, I have some of my clients that followed me to my new studio and some found me on social media, I appreciated their loyalty, their support and their referrals. I started passing out flyers, and social media ads, I walked up to anyone I met at the parking lot and introduced myself as a Hair and Makeup artist (which I’ve always been afraid to do so ever) but I DID IT!! As of now, I’m starting to have some new clientele. so, it has been great!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
So, my specializations are women’s haircuts and Asian makeup. I’m also great with highlights and balayage.
As I look back at my accomplishments, I can’t help but very proud of myself for pushing myself to be better every day and as of today I have my own little studio called BEAUTYBYTWEE STUDIO and I’m still learning every day from everyone around me. I never stop learning, I’m still taking classes about my beauty industry any chance I can get, if I know there’s a class somewhere here you bet will see me there for sure! And I hope I can become someone’s role more model in this beauty industry one day.
