Today we’d like to introduce you to Wesley Roberts.
Hi Wesley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always had an energetic personality growing up, as a youth my big brother would bring me around the high school football team thats where I got my stamp of approval. Growing up in a household that doesn’t hold back on the jokes built my character, fast forward to middle school and high school I was always making my peers laugh with my antics from the hallway to the classroom. I would occasionally post videos on my social media just being me and a lot of people would say I should try to make a career out of it never took it seriously, but just like everybody else I went through a phase of not being my best self mentally not knowing how to cope with being in downward mental state some of my friends would let me know the videos I posted made their day or put them in a better mood than before, then a lightbulb went off in my head that I could actually use my gift to uplift the people around me while also using making videos for therapy.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I feel like whenever you are trying to be successful or in the process of working on your craft, you will meet little roadblocks here and there like everything else in the world. There has been highs and lows but my blessings outweigh the lessons. I am fortunate to be surrounded by individuals who are great in their crafts and just mentors that are willing to push me to be at my best because the sky is truly the limit.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a comedian, I specialize in all aspects of comedy whether it’s stand-up comedy, video skits, cameos in music videos, hosting events I do it all. I’m known for my Instagram skits yall should follow me (@wizopcomedy) shameless plug. I’m most proud of being consistent with engulfing myself in this form of art if I’m on stage telling jokes or dropping a video or two each day of the week. I feel like what sets me apart is my “IT” factor and my willingness to learn from others and just staying aware of my talent but also being humble.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I feel like my industry changes when the world changes, comedy going from how outlandish can your material be to watching what you say because you may offend people, but my industry is very adaptive every one needs o laugh so I see comedy to continue to be persistent as its been in the next 5-10 years.
