Exploring Life & Business with Aliya Postell of Eso Mimosa Bar/ Ap the Tax Lady

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aliya Postell.

Hi Aliya, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Started my entrepreneurial journey when I decided to leave the workforce in 2016 and return to school, before that time I worked as a certified pharmacy technician and bartender. While working towards my ASN in healthcare administration I started my online tax preparation service, AP the Tax Lady. After graduating with my BSN and becoming an RN I didn’t immediately enter the field. I purchased an LLC and I wanted to help small businesses understand management and create structure. I got my first opportunity assisting my best friend Linica Maize, owner/chef of Taste Amaizeng. I was working as nurse and still bartending, but thinking I need to be doing more. After imagining having a SMALL mimosa bar and looking at properties with my talented realtor, Tanja Mcaleavay, the vision expanded far beyond anything imagined. I was blessed with two intelligent partners and the most knowledgeable team, seems like it was meant to be.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Wouldn’t say smooth but I can’t say I didn’t learn from all of it, and for every struggle it always seemed like it was all a part of the timing. From bad business deals with contractors, or having to resubmit applications and documentation, something was gained every time

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the concept creator and co-owner of ESO Mimosa bar. What makes me most proud of the ESO brand is that we are the first and only of our kind. My team took my vision and expanded on it to make it truly an experience from the food to the drinks, marketing, social media presence EVERYTHING. It makes me so proud that we are able to provide employment opportunities to our community, and an affordable yet exquisite dining experience with a fun atmosphere. I love that!

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Having all that time on my hands let me know to no take the use of that time for granted once the world opened again, and most importantly to create spaces that are safe for fun if anything ever like it happened again lol
