Today we’d like to introduce you to Archelle Williams.
Hi Archelle, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hello, my name is Archelle, I’m 31 years of age married to my husband of 7 years and we have a beautiful 4-year-old niece that lives in the home with us. I was born in Texas raised in Oklahoma by my great aunt and resided back in Texas as an adult in 2012. I met my husband in 2013, we got married in 2015 and we’ve been happy ever since. My niece came to live with us at 2 years of age and she’s just such a joy to have! Just to share a little of my personal story. Now let’s fast forward to how I became a business owner. In 2019 I was approached by someone that I was friends with at the time, to start a body contouring spa. During this time, I was working in the school district with special education kids and I wanted something new, so I was very interested and told her sure let’s do it! I started my research; we went to get TWC approved together and we went to Atlanta for further training. We started off great, we opened a location in Mansfield and everything. As time started going and things started progressing, I realized that it was going from a partnership. To her wanting to just be the full owner and offering me a contract to work under the name. Which for me was fine, but then I realized we were in it for 2 different reasons. On top of that, we had different business morals and beliefs. Long story short and to be honest, it ended up not working out. In the end, she ended up secretly taking everything. She went as far as changing the locks overnight and opening a new location in Another state amongst other things. Everything that I had worked for and towards was gone! At least that’s how I felt at the time. I helped build this from the ground up! I had finally found my passion, something that I love, something that I felt was mine and it was all taking away overnight. It broke my heart, I felt depressed, I didn’t know what I was going to do, how was I going to restart. I was just at a loss. After about a month or so, one of my previous clients ended up reaching out to me for post-op care. She was back home from cosmetic surgery and was very adamant she wanted me to care for her! Her sister and the sister’s friend had also gone and had surgery, so they were looking for care as well. I had no supplies, equipment, scheduling system, or nothing. Since I didn’t have anything, I was hesitant and provided them with consultations first. I wanted to be honest with them that I was starting from the bottom, but I promise to provide the best care! After each consultation, they decided to book my packages. I was so excited and happy! I was finally able to at least start somewhere. I went and got a DBA, created a free scheduling system with Setmore, I bought supplies and all my equipment I needed to travel with and I’ve been growing ever since! As of now, my spa is a home spa, which is separated from my living areas and I also travel. Now that I’m outgrowing my room in my house, I think it’s time to find a location. I want a location that’s in the middle of DFW, so that’s my next task. I am also looking into, adding retail products and starting a recovery home.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The first struggle I faced was getting started without any funding. I didn’t know where the money was going to come from for my startup cost. Thank God for my loyal client! Another struggle I face is having people to trust my services because I am an at-home spa. I have to do more reassuring to build that trust and then once they’re here they love it! The thing is, even though it’s in my home. You still get that full relaxing spa experience. A lot of my clients fall asleep or we end up having so much fun. That we hate when our sessions come to an end. My newest challenge is getting the funding to expand my business but like every other obstacle and challenge. I’m going to work until I’m able to overcome them! A challenge I face at times is working my full-time job, running my business full time, and maintaining my personal life. It can be very tiring lol but who’s complaining, when you’re praying for bigger!
As you know, we’re big fans of the Iconic Goddess Body Sculpting Spa. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
What I do is help you get and maintain a healthier lifestyle, while providing non-invasive body sculpting services. These services are painless, with no downtime and you can lose 2-4 inches in one session. These services are ideally for the woman or man that eats healthy, and exercises and they still can’t seem to get rid of that stubborn stomach fat. They may even suffer from loose skin because they’re losing weight or the new mommy just gave birth. I provide services that help with things such as cellulite, toning, and lifting of the thigh and butt area and so much more when it comes to body sculpting. I also help with caring for you after cosmetic surgery, which is known as post-op care. I provide services such as non-invasive laser lipo, ultrasonic cavitation, vacuum therapy, lymphatic stimulation, wood therapy, body wraps, different infrared treatments, RF skin tightening, steam treatment, endermologie treatment, and the list goes on! I know this is so cliche, but my customer service sets me apart from most. I love trying to take that extra mile to satisfy my client! My thing is you paid me for an experience and service, so it’s my job to deliver that and some. I hate bad customer service it drives me crazy! I never understood the concept of being rude or inconsiderate, to the person that’s supporting your dream and business. I’m proud to say that my business has grown so far from all word of mouth. All of my clients were referred to me from someone, which makes me proud and know that I’m doing something right. The question I always get from potential clients is “do these services work?” Yes! You get results when you follow instructions and your treatment plan. This is not a gimmick or quick fix! You have to be willing and ready to make that lifestyle change and put the work in.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I loved playing with my barbies and doing their hair. At that time, I just knew I was going to grow up and be a hairstylist lol my best friend still tells the story of me installing her extension (weave) ponytail in third grade, while in the elementary school restroom. Which eventually, I did graduate high school and attended I.T.S Hair Academy. Besides dealing with beauty, dancing and performing was second nature to me as a child and young adult. I danced on different dance teams, join the cheer team, I was on the step team in High school and I was even recording music at one point. I wasn’t the kid with a lot of friends though, While I was cool with a lot of people, I didn’t hang out with a lot of people. I’ve never liked huge crowds or to be out partying too much. Don’t get me wrong I love to have a good time, I’m just more of a family person and my thing was always school and work! I remember not being old enough to get a job, so I would clean this old man’s house for $100. I think I was maybe 13 at the time, I learned at a young age that if I wanted it. I would have to work hard for it and I’ve been having that mentality ever since.
