Exploring Life & Business with Ashley Mills of Realtor at Rogers Healy and Associates

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Mills.

Hi Ashley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I would have never in a million years thought that I would end up in Real Estate. I graduated in 2014 from Allen High School, while I was also working nights in the service industry. I had not a single clue what was next for me after graduation. I felt like everyone around me already had it planned out what their next step was, college. I took some time off from the books, then went to college for a while. I never felt passionate about what I was studying, so then I tried out the medical field. One thing I have always known is that I wanted to help people. I got certified to be a Medical Assistant and then licensed Radiology Tech. That didn’t feel right either. 7 years of bartending later, I finally figured out what I wanted to do. Real Estate. What better way to help people than with the BIGGEST purchase of their life? A home is someone’s sanctuary, where they may grow a family, something to call their own or pass down to a loved one someday. It took some time for me to figure out in what way that I wanted to help others, but when you know…you know!

I was the first person in my household to graduate high school. You would never know that if you knew my parents, they both have careers in the medical field today. My dad use to sit at the dinner table with me every night and help me with my homework. Little did I know, he didn’t have a clue what was on my homework. But he would sit there with me and help find the answer to whatever it was that night, and then we would learn together. I don’t believe that you need a piece of paper to tell you that you are smart or successful. I owe every bit of my success and the woman that I am today to my dad who doesn’t have a diploma, but he is the most hardworking and smartest man that I know. Success comes from hard work and dedication.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It wasn’t the most smooth ride to get here. I struggled a lot with self-doubt. Leaving an industry that I had been in for so long, where I was comfortable and completely starting from scratch terrified me. I wondered if I would fail and regret my decision. I had to change my mindset, and once I did something just clicked. There’s no going back now that I know what I am capable of, and I am just getting started!
