Exploring Life & Business with Latasha Jordan of Jordan Wellness Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Latasha Jordan.

Hi Latasha, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Oh Wow, how did this all start? I’ll try to make it as short as I can. Oddly enough it started when I was a little girl watching my mother and aunt care for others in the medical field. Also, in my old neighborhood of East Hill in Greenville, Tx, and home church Carter Temple C.M.E. everyone took care of each other and showed love in some of the simplest ways. That set me up to help with special needs kids from 7th grade until I graduated from high school. While in high school I was blessed to be introduced to massage while I was working with the special needs students. I always enjoyed anatomy and looking for the small details in life.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh, dear God no. In the mid ’90s, massage was not a “career” that good people had. I went to school for so many other things…lol As I said before I enjoy seeing the details of life, so I went to school for two things at the same time, fashion marketing and auto CAD for architectural design. All the while I was an assistant for a Dallas Cowboy player and his wife in the mid ’90s. And no, I cannot tell you who. But, working with he and his wife I started falling back on my massage knowledge. Over the years I kept changing what I was in school for. I can’t tell you how many certifications and different degrees I hold. I even started a massage business with a current Country Music Star, Jeff Clayborn, but we were just not organized at all. We both had different passions that did not work well together for a wellness business. Our business partnership lasted I think about 9 months or so, but our friendship remains. I am proud of him for following his true calling and passion. He knows I will always wish him the best. Back on topic…lol I have also worked for a few big box spas and chiropractors. However, I currently partner with some of the chiropractors I have worked for. At some point I realized that I was so depressed working for other people. I felt like I would never grow or do anything better. I was in a crazy cycle the felt like it would never end. I think my biggest struggle at the time was, listening to friends and family that I thought had my best interests at heart. But realizing that when your purpose in life is so much greater than the world around you, some people with a smaller field of vision want you to stay in the comfort zone with them. I realized that I should never light myself on fire to keep others warm.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Jordan Wellness Group?
Jordan Wellness is a wellness practice. I am a Master Massage Therapist specializing in deep tissue and medical massage, and I am also an Ordained Officiant. We also have a Master Esthetician on staff that specializes in hydro-facials and lashes. What makes us different is that we care about our clients. Our clients become friends and family. We have also started to develop in office a handmade custom mini product line, where we will mix and blend products just for that client. Given that I have very bad allergies, we do understand that some people will not get massages or facials because they are very sensitive to different kinds of chemicals. So, if needed we will take a little extra care to use and mix natural ingredients that are effective to help us aid with your treatments. Jordan Wellness has a passion for the wellness of others.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Oh my God!…lol I wish my mom could to tell you this part. The way I see it, I was the perfect kid…lol No, I was a kid like any others. I do remember one of my church mothers telling me that, I was so cool and calm and never let the sweat on my nose bother me. I think that was because I was a quiet kid, I watched people. I remember being very calculated with what I said, did and the cloths I wore. I never wanted to go hang out with friends and never care to go to parties, but it seemed that everyone in town still knew who I was. One of the things I did as a little was sing in church choirs. And in a town like Greenville back in the day, that will get you noticed quickly. Aside from all that, I was a tomboy, I was climbing and jumping off roofs of houses, playing football in the graveyard with my male cousins. My downtime was drawing and helping my mom take care of my younger brother and sister. I know a lot of people my age as well as some of my teachers did not really get me. And today I can see it in my 6-year-old son. I as well as he walks to the beat of our own drum. We are always thinking ahead, wanting more and wondering why. We have the need to know everything, and can’t understand why we don’t know it all right now…lol I am always one to learn some new and different. I remember I was a people watcher and I still am. I use to love going to the mall just to watch and study people. I do think that is one of the things that has helped me so much in my career.
