Exploring Life & Business with Robin Who of Our Connected World

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Who
Hi Robin, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I like to believe my Story and How I got started… started when I was very young, moving countries from a young age and navigating that world. When I was younger,  I had to put efforts in connections as I had to start friendships from zero time and time again. When I was 12, I moved from Italy to Germany and it was the first time I started to notice how different I was to others; I was watching all of these other girls have these beautiful friendships with others they had grown up with and knew their whole lives and for me, I did not have that.
Not only did it feel like I had to put in extra effort to instigate friendships but to maintain them, long-distance friendships can be hard ESPECIALLY at that age when we had just started having emails as communication… but I am grateful for the friends that have stood with me all of this time and all the experiences that starting new again brought into my life.
So, from my teenage times and into my early Twenties I started to TRULY prioritize friendships, putting myself out there, immersing myself into the culture of each place that I travelled, learned the languages, being open to allowing people in EVEN when it felt scary and then I sort of just got a nap for it and slowly but surely this world of connection became my normal.
Covid was a super tough time for me no longer being able to connect to the world and to people in the way that I had grown so accustomed to… so I started a podcast, Journeys Untold. I missed traveling and hearing stories from people around the world and so I thought this podcast would just be a good release and place to reconnect with others while the world felt so disconnected.
Meanwhile, I published a bilingual book, one of my dreams and it was in the creation of this book and through my experiences on the podcast that I realized what I was doing could do so much more and impact so many more people although I never really acted on it. Over this period, I was slowly but surely becoming the “Go-To” person by anyone who knew me for all things Travel, Lifestyle, and Language because I actually taught Spanish/Italian for 5 years and have been travelling across the globe for honestly as long as I can remember.
But then I took a course… “Clarity to Launch” and it all became clear: I was meant to extend my skills and knowledge to more people. That was the catalyst to building Our Connected World to become what it is today.
The way travel and languages have affected my life has opened opportunities, has brought me the greatest memories and relationships… and this experience should be something available to more people.
The power of travel shouldn’t be hidden. Shouldn’t be just for those who feel brave and know 100% to listen to their inner spark. As a woman, I know how different it is to go on a solo extended trip or move abroad by yourself. There are some safety concerns we face; there are societal constraints and stereotypes tagged on us, different psychological impacts that we face, and most of all: we miss sharing it all with someone on a deeper level.
As a female traveler myself, I felt called to empower more women to experience the world deeply and find growth around this beautiful planet we have,
Transform their lifestyle.
More women deserve to be supported in how they want to experience the world and sometimes a simple conversation can change the course of our lives.
I started with my Language Immersion courses and noticed that the transformation was not just fluency. It was more. Most of my students went through mindset shifts and felt knowing the language called them to travel even more and find new career paths.
So, I expanded to coaching, mentoring. Something I had done and loved all my life. Helping others rise to their full potential and most importantly. Be happy.
OCW is meant to encompass all this, a place where women can become who they want to be by doing what they want to do. A place of alignment through the art of slow travel.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My Growth and my Journey into Business was Not Sudden… I didn’t just wake up one day and thought… I am going to start teaching what I know. My desire to help others in this way, to coach them, educate them, and lead them definitely developed over time and was an opportunity that was presented to me time and time again in different ways. So, when I ultimately did decide to Register my Company and actually take it full-time, it was a natural development and people already knew how I was able to help them!
I think the biggest obstacle wasn’t starting the company or even my experiences which got me to the point of starting my company… but instead, it was the mindset shifts I had to go through during this transition of “Oh… this isn’t just something I help people with now… this is my JOB… my Company… my Service” and it was really difficult shifting to that place of service. I struggled with Comparison Analysis and knowing how to position myself as a business owner and actually having the confidence to sell my services.
But I quickly learned that it is okay to talk about your offer every day! It is okay to sell every day! In fact, it is PART of our Act of Service to SELL because only then can we impact more people and continue to do our job as service providers.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Our Connected World?
The OCW is the First & Only Exclusive Multidisciplinary Platform which provides Coaching, Travel Expertise, and Language Diversification for soulful women around the globe looking to embrace and harness the IMPACT of Slow Travel Lifestyles. With over 5 Years of Experience teaching the Artform of Language and Decades of Travelling the Globe myself, The OCW is on a mission to empower more women to GO and create opportunities + life-changing experiences abroad as solo travellers or digital nomad or expats with the guidance and support of someone who can help teach them the ropes.
Whilst many in my industry tackle Digital Nomad Education, Travel, and Lifestyle Coaching from wither a Very Spiritual Place, I actually tackle it from science and Psychology. I speak a lot about the psychological effects travel has the brain and how you can utilize that for mindset shifts to get the most out of travel and life.
We offer a Range of Services here at Our Connected World all catering to Different Needs:
Our OCW Coaching Programs:
OCW Coaching helps soulful female wander lusters, aspiring digital nomad plan, budget for, and work on the skills and mindset needed to work while travel to make absolutely transformational life experiences abroad.
Whether that is walking down your favorite coffee shop in Spain, wine tasting in Italy or chilling on the beach in Tulum –
My goal is to help you connect your need for travel with the one of learning and personal growth.
Together we map out the steps, resources, and support you need to make your experience abroad happen.
It’s a holistic approach balancing the art of slow travel and the power of psychology.
OCW One Way Ticket Mastermind: for aspiring female digital nomads, ready for time, location and financial freedom.
92% of people give up on their vision and the reason why lies on lack of clarity, lack of support & accountability, no mindset work, not believing in themselves. It’s not about NOT being capable of change, about money or enough experience abroad or having to be the perfect moment. The real issue is lack of a supportive ecosystem and a limiting mindset. In fact, #1 reason digital nomads book a ticket back is loneliness.
This is the first & only holistic program for the women ready to go on their one-way adventure in the right gear. Nowadays programs focus only on the building an online business aspect of the lifestyle change but really that is only one (important sure) slice of the pie. But that is not equipping them with all the tools to make such a life-changing move, because this is a different lifestyle. That’s why on top of it we address planning and crafting intentional experiences abroad, build up the skills needed to work and travel including financial education, community and creating the mindset to make the move and time abroad unique and smooth.
OCW Courses & Language Immersion
We offer a range of Courses from Language Education through to How to Plan your first Solo Trip abroad!
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I am a bit divided on the word luck because I believe that Luck is what you make it! I think more than luck it has to do with your approach and mindset… in business and in life. You can sit there and say this is so unlucky OR you can say how can I make this an opportunity… What can I learn from this? What has this opened the door to? And take action.
For Example I was in Hawaii and had signed up for a Surfing Lesson alone on the other end of the Island with no way back to my Hotel and inside of the surfing lesson I met this Beautiful Couple, I ended up learning so much about them and their story and then they offered me a ride back to the other side of the island in their Mustang. If it weren’t for me having no transport and making a connection, I would not have met this beautiful couple, I would have never been able to ride in a Mustang in Hawaii and I would have never made this LASTING memory of the wind rushing through my air and the smell of the sea breeze filling my nostrils.
