Today we’d like to introduce you to Shavawn Everitt.
Hi Shavawn, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Born and raised in Texas, I definitely grew up the Texas way! My grandparents owned one of the first and largest dairy farms in San Antonio and we had a small family farm outside the Hill Country. Farm life was challenging in many ways, but I loved growing up on the farm, learning the life lessons of hard work and dedication. At a young age, I enjoyed building our family farmhouse with my father. He used to let me run the electrical wiring across the open trusses from one end of the house to the other; my mother did not like that at all! Looking back, I think my father is why I fell in love with construction!
I took that love for construction even further! I decided to attend university where I received a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design with minors in Art & Design and Architecture. I also took Interior Design Classes at the Fuji Studio in Italy. What an experience!!! I didn’t know a soul – just hopped on a plane, flew to Rhome, traveled to Florence, and finally made my way to the flat I had rented for the semester. It was definitely an adventure, but adventure of a lifetime for this small-town girl.
Furthering my abilities, I became a Licensed and Registered Interior Designer in the State of Texas, NCIDQ Certified, Professional Member of the American Society of Interior Designers, and the Texas Association for Interior Design.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Struggles exist in every business! When the times get tough, you just have to figure out a way to keep moving forward. George Ross, Celebrity Star on NBC’s The Apprentice and MASTER of negotiations in Real Estate and Business, told me “Failure + Perseverance = SUCCESS”.

Construction is what we do! And we LOVE it!! We take your project from plan level, all the way to move-in ready. Design & Details specializes in construction detailing & design; building and supporting the entire design team from start to finish. We take the chaos out of construction!
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Farm life was the theme of my childhood! My siblings and I would make up the best games to play outside around the farm – my favorite game to play was Outside Clue.
