Today we’d like to introduce you to Taisa Veras.
Hi Taisa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I fell in love with winemaking when I visited Napa Valley for the first time in the fall of 2019 and met a very talented winemaker from a boutique winery in the Coombsville region in Napa Valley. I have always been a rosé drinker and my friends always called me ‘Taisa Rosé’. I started Aloha Wine Cellars in 2020 during the pandemic after getting laid off from my full-time director job in NYC. I created a business plan from scratch in the summer of 2020 and then went back to Napa and presented to the winemaker. He loved my vision for the brand and agreed to partner with me. I self-funded Aloha Wine Cellars LLC in the fall of 2020. I launched Aloha Rosé, our first product, in the Spring of 2021. Two months after the launch we signed our first partnership for a custom can production for Market Highland Park, a luxury fashion boutique in Highland Park Village. That summer we also started to sell our wine to various fashion boutiques throughout the US. To me, winemaking is a form of art and we want people to enjoy it with their loved ones.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I didn’t have any prior experience in the wine business so the production process was a learning curve. I didn’t know any vendors in the business and had do my own research. I’m also dealing with supply chain shortages at the moment. We are seeing a shortage of packaging products, wine, and trucking/shipping companies have raised their price.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
We are talking to other brands about doing more custom limited-edition cans with them.
