Hidden Gems: Meet Annie Schmidt of Schmidt Organization Systems

Today we’d like to introduce you to Annie Schmidt. 

Hi Annie, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Sure! I began organizing when Covid hit. Like everyone else, I was stuck inside and needed a distraction. I started working on my own home and moved to my friends and neighbors when I realized that working on other people’s spaces was more fun! I quickly grew addicted to the gratifying feeling of transforming a space and seeing the reaction on my clients’ faces!

When my little one started school, I decided to turn my hobby into a business. I have always been interested in entrepreneurship and working for myself. This business has allowed me to have a creative outlet for myself outside of the home, while creating beautiful and functional spaces for busy families. We create organization systems in homes throughout Dallas focusing on the Park Cities, Lakewood, Preston Hollow, Midway Hollow and Bluffview. We have grown quickly through referrals and now employ a team that is dedicated to helping our clients in the most special place to them – their home. Organization in the home brings peace and reduces stress. It allows you to spend time on the things that really matter!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like anyone starting a business, I had a lot of questions when getting started. I came from a corporate sales background working for a large manufacturing company.  Accounting, inventory management, and creating a team has been a tricky but fun learning process for me. I love getting new business and meeting new people, so I have to remind myself to keep a healthy balance between work and family life. Luckily, being your own boss allows you to make your own schedule and be around for carpool pickup every day! I’m lucky that I have a patient husband who supports my craziness and busy schedule!

I have loved the challenges along the way- and I still have a ton to learn!

As you know, we’re big fans of Schmidt Organization Systems. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a full-service organization company. We handle projects as small as a pantry or closet makeover, all the way to full home move-ins. We set up organizational systems in the home that allow the family to feel less stress and more peace because with labels and containment, everyone is on the same page!

We specialize in custom spaces to match the aesthetic of the home. The main focus is function, but we love to add personal touches and beauty to each project. We customize the products we use to match the clients’ preferences. We do a full in-person consult before each job to discuss project goals, aesthetic,  budget and take measurements. We strive to achieve 100% customer satisfaction. The fact that we are a small, customer-focused business allows us guarantee that all of our clients are happy when our team walks out of the door!

What are your plans for the future?
The sky is the limit with our future – in only one short year of business, we now employ 4 women full-time and 4 additional women project-based. We work as a team to help our clients, and we are so grateful for their referrals! We are getting Dallas organized – one pantry and closet at a time!
