Today we’d like to introduce you to Devonne Leonard.
Devonne, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2011, I started working as a door host at a seafood restaurant. I quickly moved up to the server, and then the bartender and I instantly fell in love. From getting to know the regulars to creating cocktails based on their preferences to the atmosphere. I knew immediately that bar ownership was in my future. I started bartending private events for friends and family back in 2015 under the name “Chicks That Myx.” This year, with the help of my partner, Keilah Johnson, I’ve rebranded as Low-Key Mobile Bar and am expanding to service clientele throughout the DFW metroplex.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
So far, the road has been pretty smooth. I would say our current obstacles are running a small business while still working full-time jobs and tackling social media marketing. Our events have been through word of mouth, which is great, but we want to reach more people.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Low Key Mobile Bar?
Low Key Mobile Bar is a chic bar experience with mixologists’ hand-crafting cocktails. It is an atmosphere of social bliss that is sure to elevate your spirits no matter the occasion.
Our service includes knowledgeable licensed bartenders, cups, cocktail napkins, mixers, fresh garnishes, and cocktail stirrers. We create customized beverage menus based on our client’s preferences and assist with the liquor selection.
We are Black-owned and operated.
What makes you happy?
What makes me happy is getting to celebrate these special moments with our clients. It’s almost as if we are part of the family for a few hours. Watching the smiles, toasts, and hugs– it’s what makes our service worthwhile.
