Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Jackie Romanies.
Hi Dr. Romanies, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always been interested in natural healthcare and I know what it is like to experience a lack of compassionate and attentive care. Especially when considering the care available to women and children in the field of health. This drove me to create a space that allowed for healing. Healthcare that gives patients not only time to heal but knowledge, information, and skills to help improve overall health. in. A lot of personal health and wellness comes down to knowledge, knowledge that used to be passed down through family members. When medicine became commercialized and industrialized, we gained a lot of resources but lost a lot of common knowledge on the care and keeping of health in our bodies, in our minds, and in our everyday lives. My goal as a practitioner is to provide a space where patients can come to improve their health, improve their lives, and gain information about how the body works. In order to live a healthier life no matter what stage, age, or phase of life they are in.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Anytime you are trying to create something that doesn’t currently exist, there are challenges. For example, in the world of modern healthcare, there are a lot of time limits on everyone. Time limits that are not conducive to the patient’s health or healing and it places undue and unnecessary stress on the provider. Clinics and hospitals are not designed to help people heal or stay healthy; they are designed to keep you alive. Which is based on a survival mentality, all the way down to the schedule. Once we get past basic survival, there are not many healthcare options that focus on sustainable physical recovery, especially for women. In the United States, we have a ton of resources, however chiropractic care and pelvic floor physical therapy are often used as absolute last resort after people have suffered unnecessarily for years. One of my goals is to make these preventative health resources topics more household conversations. Giving people the knowledge to properly take care of their bodies by educating them on the supportive resources available. Normalizing seeking help earlier instead of waiting until a preventable health issue greatly disrupts their life.
We’ve been impressed with Emerald Wellness Company, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Emerald Wellness Company, we primarily focus on excellent chiropractic care, specifically for women’s health and for pediatric health. We also offer local provider connections to pelvic floor physical therapy, in-house myofascial therapy, cupping therapy, and a variety of other health and wellness-based services. Chiropractic is the science and art of removing interference in the nervous system. Which means as chiropractors, are trained to help your body and nervous systems operate at their best. We use our hands to gently remove misalignments in the spine that are keeping you from functioning at your best. Chiropractic uses a drug-free, non-invasive approach to improve various health complaints and concerns related to your nervous system, muscles, bones, and overall health and wellbeing. Cupping Therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts cups on your skin for a few minutes to create vacuum suction. People use cupping therapy for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation, and well-being. It can also be used as a type of deep-tissue massage. Myofascial Therapy uses various levels of pressure to manipulate muscles, ease pain, and reduce stress on the muscles, fascia, and soft tissues of the body.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I loved to dance, I loved animals, and I loved helping people. All three of those things are still part of me today and funny enough all three showed up in my Halloween costume when I was six years old. I dressed up like a ballerina, doctor/veterinarian. I had big aspirations. I never became a vet, but I love my dog. I danced for years competitively in ballet, and I always enjoyed being outside. I am fascinated by plants, flowers and botany. Those interests all stayed with me through the years. I earned an herbology degree and use that knowledge to help my patients understand why and how certain foods heal the body. I was a sweet, sassy, and precocious kid.
