Inspiring Conversations with Latasha Autrey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Latasha Autrey.

Hi Latasha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born and raised in Dallas, TX. As long as I can remember I’ve always had a passion for helping others. So much so that my dreams and goal in life was to become a Dallas Police Officer. That was all I could see myself doing, I had a concrete plan to make my dream a reality, but then real life hit. I got married, became a military spouse, and started a family. I was blessed with a beautiful daughter and a handsome son. After my son was born, I became a full-time mom and my focus was on my family, those dreams of becoming a cop eventually faded away. Being a military spouse was not easy, with lots of moving, war, and countless deployments….after 15 years of marriage, it ended in divorce. This was by far the most devastating thing I had ever gone through.

I moved back to Texas in 2010, I had no idea how I was going to successfully raise my two children on my own. Determined not to allow my doubts and fears of being a single parent hinder me from being successful. After submitting dozens of applications, I finally received a phone call from an employment agency looking to fill a spot at one of the biggest mortgage company in the world, Freddie Mac. That was my introduction to the world of real estate. I started as a temp-hire and worked my way up to Senior Valuation Analyst in six years. Working at Freddie Mac taught me a lot about the industry and fueled my passion for helping others.

Unfortunately, the company decided to make some changes, and I was laid off. Fortunately, I was able to quickly find another job with Asset Valuations Solutions, an industry leading Valuation Company whose key products include appraisals, residential & commercial broker price opinions, inspections, and data reports.

It was not until I got this position that I realized I wanted to do more in the real estate industry. I wanted more interaction with people and to make a direct difference in their lives. I pondered on what I could do that would satisfy this urge and then that’s when it occurred to me…I decided to become a real estate agent! As a Realtor, I would be able to use all the skills I’ve acquired through my work experience, while at the same time help people find and buy the home of their dreams! This was the perfect solution and it has been the best decision I could have ever made. I get such a great sense of fulfillment when I help families get the keys to their brand-new home.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It would be untrue to say the road was smooth. I received my Real Estate license at the end of September 2019 and launched my business at the beginning of October 2019.The pandemic affected the start of my business drastically.More money was going out and none coming in. This went on for about 3-4, months, I felt so defeated at times. However, I continued to market, conduct open houses when safe and possible, I took additional training classes while in quarantine to increase my real estate knowledge in hopes to make me more valuable to my client.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m committed to building exceptional relationships and really listening deeply to my clients. I am a firm believer that real estate, at its core, is all about customer service. When you choose to work with me, I am merely not forging a transaction; we are creating a relationship. Who you work with Truly Matters!

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I think integrity is an important trait to have, especially in this industry. Buying a home is the biggest purchase most individuals will make in their lifetime. Integrity has helped me define who I am and how I act towards others.
